This has probably been posted, but I watched this today, and what do you think really happened? I just find it hard to believe that a former student had "threatened" him, and he ends up dead, yet this former student is cleared as being a suspect, I never understand when that happens, seems too much to be a coincidence.

I tend to lean towards suicide but it satill leaves the question of how his foot was severed and found washed up on the beach and the rest of his body missing?? I'd watch the eppie again but it seems that particular disvc in my Bizarre Murders set vanished when my sister came over to visit???

I did a search, and someone had posted a link to providencephoenix.com being an article that gave good reasons it was a suicide. I tried to open the link and search google, but it would never show up. does anyone have this article to paste here or have a link? thanks

Boats? Maybe he was killed and burried in a shallow grave, then animals slowly tore his body apart. Did they ever say where his shin bone was found?

Bryan's shin bone was found on Hog Island Beach, just a few miles from Roger Williams University (the college he was attending).

I often wonder about this case.....did it have anything to do with the other 'student' he knew, their disagreements? I've heard (or read) somewhere, probably on another post, that the faculty had some info that they were withholding. That it could've been done by someone on campus. I don't know if that's true or not.....

Wasn't there a lot of speculation that Bryan was gay and that he had a lover's spat? Or am I confusing this with the Michael Negrete case? I know it was speculated that he was also homosexual, although I know that neither claim has been substantiated.

No, you're right, there WAS speculation the Bryan was homosexual. To the best of my knowledge, it was said in the segment that someone would maybe expose him to his hometown if that were the case.....it's possible.

At this point, I am not sure what I think happened to Bryan. Given how Bryan abruptly left class, my first instinct is suicide, but the more I think about I don't know.
The person that made the threatening phone calls said he made them in jest. I don't know if I believe that, but it is a possibility. Given how Brian frantically called his father at midnight one night, I think he thought he was in real danger. I am totally baffled as to what relationship Brian and the other guy had. Part of me thinks that it was someone who conveyed to Brian that they could trust him, only to turn on him. Or it could be that they were boyfriends and the other guy wanted to convince Brian to come out, and he didn't want to. It could be any one of a number of possibilities.
Then there is always the possibility of a hate crime. If he was gay, he wasn't officially out yet, but he might have been perceived as gay. If the other guy did in fact have a romantic relationship with Bryan, then he would probably be the only person that knows for sure, besides Bryan. A possibilty is that Bryan and the guy had an argument, and the guy wanted to get revenge by outing Bryan. I would imagine Rhode Island would be one of the safest states for gays, but this might be an exception to the rule.
It is possible that was overcome with fear of being outed and possible future physical violence toward him and decided to take his life.

It's plausible. I have several friends who have come out of the closet. A few of them mentioned feeling suicidal as they were struggling with their sexuality. Most of them were near Bryan's age at the time they realized their sexual orientation.
