In 1998, my family was at Jacobs Field when the Indians clinched the Central Division. That was fun to see.

In 2001 I went with my friend Steve to see the Browns. This is the game where the refs reversed a Browns' first down call and went back to a previous play (a big NO NO!!). All hell broke loose and a zillion plastic beer bottles went sailing onto the field, there were numerous arrests, and the game was nearly forfeited. Steve and I just watched in shock from the upper deck. It was like a chain reaction!

We had taken the city bus to the game so we wouldn't have to park at the muni lot (which charges an arm and a leg). I thought about times where as a kid, the class would go on the bus after misbehaving on a field trip and a grown up would yell. Steve and I boarded the bus after the game with quite a few meek, sheepish fans. I kept expecting the bus driver to yell at us, which of course he didn't.

I arrived home, flipped on TV and saw that the incident was the top story in the country!! We even made Jay Leno's monologue. My folks were in PA that day visiting my sister at college. On the way home, they heard the news on the radio that a near riot had erupted at Cleveland Browns Stadium!! They were relieved to find me safe, sound...and sober. ;)

I thought it was 1999 when that happened, December 19 to be exact. I somehow link that up with the fact that the Dayton area was ready to get its first East of Chicago Pizza Co. restaurant, which would open the following month.

As for my most memorable sporting event, it has to be Game 1 of the 1990 World Series, Cincinnati Reds vs. Oakland Athletics. I got to go to Game 1 at Riverfront Stadium with my parents that night (October 16 to be specific), and the Reds scored early, won, and went on to win the Series, and thus the Championship.

(My apologies to the Athletics fans on this board, by the way.)
