A day after entering Promises, a residential rehab facility in Malibu, Britney Spears has left the treatment center, a source confirms to PEOPLE.
"It was against their advice," says the source. "If she comes back for treatment, Promises will have to assess the situation. Sometimes people come back, but it doesn't look good."
Promises is not a locked-down facility, so a patient is able to leave the program if he or she wants to.
Entertainment Tonight and TMZ.com were first to report that Spears had left rehab.
On Tuesday, Spears's manager, Larry Rudolph, told PEOPLE the singer had "voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility today."
Over the weekend, Spears, 25, shaved her head, got two new tattoos and was spotted partying in West Hollywood.
Last week, she visited Eric Clapton's Crossroads Centre in Antigua but left after just one day and headed to Florida, a source told PEOPLE at the time.
Ireneparalegal 02-21-2007, 03:22 PM She's a dumb broad.
Mr. Stefani 02-21-2007, 03:34 PM They said she either switched rehabs because of the media circus outside of the one she was in or went back to Kentwood.
GoldenGirlsFan92 02-21-2007, 03:56 PM I just hope she gets her life together soon.
catlover79 02-21-2007, 04:23 PM They said she either switched rehabs because of the media circus outside of the one she was in or went back to Kentwood.
Unfortunately, I think ANY rehab center she should enter would be swarmed by the media. :(
Dr. Thong 02-21-2007, 07:42 PM My guess is that neither one of these pop tarts is taking rehab seriously. Because of their excesses, they are probably being pressured into going and see it as a chance to get away from the pressure and dry out for a bit.
They probably see it as some sort of a spa/resort and not a way of life, which is what its supposed to be.
Hey Britney, why don't you go home and "rehab" with your kids?
You know, the youngins your deadbeat white rapper ex will get custody of if you don't get your crap together?
;)

The kids deserve better, that's for sure. :(

Exactly. No judge is going to give kids to a woman like her.

I'm thinking the same thing, but then again, Britney wants attention, all these dumb broads want attention, they love to air their dirty laundry and act like unruly kids. Britney, Lindsay, and all of them are milking their 'bad girl' image.

:clap :clap :clap Amen to that! Tatiana, I couldn't have put it better myself. Unfortunately she has 2 innocent babies who are the ones who will pay the price. It's hard to feel sorry for these "pop tarts". They should have to live like real people with real jobs, not have everything handed to them on a silver platter. My grandmother always said you reap what you sow. :2mad OK, I think it's time for me to get off the :soapbox: now.

Thank you, sadly, I used to be a Britney or a Lindsay(before my two little wonderful girls). From the age of 14 to at least 20, I was all over party circut, Miami is notorious party central and a lot of people who party there end up in trouble in some way. I know the parties that these girls circut and let me tell you, excess city. It took an emotional toll on me and had to realized that I needed to shape up, my junior year in college, I decided to get right, thankfully two years before I had my little girls, sadly, I don't think Lindsay or Britney would shape up in time. People are afraid to say no to them.

Lindsay is still 20, so there's hope.
Chocoholic 02-22-2007, 12:54 PM I just find it very distressing that young girls look up to these overindulged brats like Britney, Lindsay, and Paris as role models. I think society is really going to hell in a nandbasket sometimes.
I hope the state takes custody of those two boys. I don't think either Britney or Kevin is fit to parent.
JuicyCoutureGirl 02-22-2007, 03:28 PM Lindsay is still 20, so there's hope.
Maybe, but with a greedy, spotlight hungry mother like hers plus people who are afraid of telling her 'no', and club owners overlooking the fact that's underage, I don't think she'll come out of it okay. I just can't believe that Mansion(a hot spot here in South Beach), let her ass in, but then again..people love kissing celeb's ass, no matter how old they are.
catlover79 02-22-2007, 04:03 PM HERE WE GO AGAIN!!
From Yahoo! News:
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Britney Spears' in-again out-again rehab saga found her back in a Malibu facility on Thursday, halting an emergency court hearing in which estranged husband Kevin Federline planned to discuss custody of their two children.
Celebrity Web sites reported that the pop singer returned late on Wednesday to the Promises rehabilitation center, which she had fled earlier in the day after less than 24 hours of treatment.
Spears' spokesman did not return calls for comment on the reports, which followed a turbulent week that has seen one of the world's best-known pop stars in and out of rehab three times and shaving her own head.
The Web site of syndicated TV show Extra said there was video showing her driving through the gates of the luxury Promises center with her mother.
Other reports said Spears returned after seeking a meeting with Federline on Wednesday but being denied entry to the house where he is staying with their children, Jayden James, 5 months old, and Sean Preston, 17 months old.
Spears filed for divorce in November after two years of marriage and both she and Federline are seeking custody.
Several reports said Spears returned for a full 30-45 days of treatment after Federline gave her a last chance to get help or risk losing custody of the children.
Los Angeles County Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini said the family court was notified on Wednesday that papers requesting a hearing on the children could be filed. But Parachini said Federline's lawyers had called to say no court action would be held on Thursday.
"Kevin continues to be a very focused father with his children's best interests at heart," said a statement from Mark Vincent Kaplan, read by the lawyer's publicist, Michael Sands.
Spears hit the nightclub circuit hard after splitting with Federline and shocked fans when photographs of her getting out of cars showed she wasn't wearing panties under her miniskirts.
Last week, she was reported to have entered and fled a rehab center in Antigua after staying for less than a day.
When she returned to Los Angeles, she shaved off all her hair after a stylist refused to do it and got two new tattoos.

Ireneparalegal 02-22-2007, 07:38 PM It's not her fault the media follows her around like puppy dogs.
She didn't have to go out somewhere to have her head shaved. She could have done that at home.
Also, it doesn't matter how many photographers, autograph seekers follow her, BRITNEY DOES WHAT BRITNEY WANTS TO DO, no one makes her do a damn thing. The papparrazi doesn't make her drink, do drugs, get tatttoos, drop her son on his head, drive with her son on her lap, marry a no talent rap singer, walk around without underwear, party til 6 in the morning, etc. That is all Britney's doing. She put herself in that situation, no one else.
catlover79 02-22-2007, 08:25 PM :clap :yeahthat Well said Irene!!
JuicyCoutureGirl 02-23-2007, 02:28 AM It's not her fault the media follows her around like puppy dogs.
Um, Britney chose this career, everybody knows this is the price you will pay for choosing a career in Hollywood. No one made her abandon her kids to go party without her underwear with the skank crew(Paris and Lindsay), no one made her shave her head and mess up someone's car. She did it all. I'm tired of people blaming others for their actions.
If this was the case, then why aren't Gwyneth Paltrow and Gabrielle Union along with Hilary Swank NEVER caught acting like um, un-LADY like?
Britney is a grown ass woman. People, stop blaming the media for grown people's actions!

she was 15 when she "chose" this career. I hardly doubt she ever expected her life to be the way it is.

because they're not at her level of celebrity. they dont have it as bad as she does. yes they're talented people, but the public doesnt care what they're doing with their lives.
I really think its sad that people take pleasure in her misfortunes. Britney's father said(and he rarely ever speaks to the media) that it has nothing to do with drugs or booze and its not what everyone thinks it is. everyone goes a little crazy at some point in their life, we just dont have the world judging our low points. and as for the whole umbrella incident, clearly in the mental state that she's in right now they shouldve had enough respect to leave her be and stop pushing so hard. the person she was with 20 minutes before the incident pleaded for them to stop. they're scum and if i were britney i probably wouldve snapped sooner.

Please, Gwyneth and Hilary are MUCH talented than Britney Spears. So you are saying that Britney is a higher celeb than them? Come on now. We are talking about Oscar winners here.
Who said that people are taking pleasure in her misfortunes? Again, SHE chose to act this way, no one put a gun to her head and told her to act like an un behaved idiot. Um, I knew how "evil" the media was at a young age and the pressures, so that was an bad excuse.
How do you know the public doesn't care what Gwyneth and Gabby and Hilary are doing? Maybe because they aren't attention seekers like Britney and Paris. We are bombarbed everyday with Britney news, not for her so called talents, but her antics. I'm pleased with people like Hilary Duff and Vanessa Hudgens, young girls who act like well behaved girls.
Long gone are the days of the Natalie Woods and the Audrey Hepburns, as proved in the last five years, anyone can be a 'star' which doesn't say much for Britney's so called antics.
Instead of feeling sorry for brats like Britney and Paris and Lindsay. Feel sorry for those who aren't so lucky like those without food to eat and no heat during the harsh winter. Care about our brave men and women who are risking their lives to protect ours. Feel sorry for Danielynn Smith who has to go through life without her mom. Feel sorry for the kids of the 9/11 victims and the New Orleans residents who don't have a pot to **** in after Hurricane Katrina destroyed their whole lives. Feel sorry for children who have to go through life without their parents. Not Paris and Britney.

Thank you. I had to say it. I didn't want to so mean but good lord, I'm sick of people telling me to feel sorry for these Hollywood stars, they are better off then many people.
You got people who BUST THEIR ASS EVERYDAY, unlike these stars. People should them credit. You got soliders on the front line so that's bull**** about Britney being 'pressured' by the media, the number one excuse made by pathetic people on why she's parting without her underwear and shaving her head. Please, there are people in WORSE shape but they don't 'snap', they get their ass up and bust their ass.
I'm really tired of the 'woe is me' bull from celebs. What about these kids out there that are getting abused at home(I should know) all the time. Those babies like Jessica Lunsford that are being killed by these animals. I feel bad for Jessica's father, having to watch him on T.V with his heart broken. Did anyone make a fuss over that? No, they want to feel sorry for the 'party' girls. Guess what people, they are big girls, they make their OWN decisons, not photographers for UsWeekly and Star. Don't like it, get out of Hollywood, it's part of your job.
Hmm, Natalie Wood was a target of the media but she didn't go out and partied without her underwear or shaved her head, why? Because she was a LADY. She didn't have to seek attention, she got it by her movies. She didn't abandon her kids to go party at Studio 54 or some other hot spot back then.
So no, I don't feel sorry for Britney, Paris, or Lindsay. Someone had the nerve to say that Britney is at a higher level than Gwyneth Paltrow and Hilary Swank, BOTH RESPECTED actress while Britney and Lindsay have NEVER got respected. Please, then said no one cares about what Gwyneth and Hilary does, please, antics get more praise and news coverage than acting like ladies. My god, this is pathetic, prasing idoits but not giving a damn about our soliders risking their lives or these kids being targeted by these monsters. This is sad times when people care more about The Anna Nicole trial and Britney's antics rather than our soliders or these kids being killed by the scums of the earth.

Time for that eye exam you've been putting off. I was making fun of the ranters on the Snickers thread. That was my entire point. Got no clue about what you're talking about regarding anyone's dead mother. I suspect this is just another Strawman argument from you. Although you employ the Strawman argument quite frequently, it might be a good idea to show others what the sneaky debating tactic is all about.

Just pointing that it's a cheap shot to diminish a person's argument by claiming they don't care about solidiers/kids/9/11/Katrina/etc. Nothing but bull **** hyperbole.

I'm not taking a cheap shot at you. I'm telling you that I think your debating tactic sucks, using the strawman approach, or red herring as it's also called. Argue your point, you make good ones, but it cheapens the debate when the strawman is used. It doesn't matter where I got the definition. It's still true. Wiki's not for you here, take your pick.

It's also a dumb arguement to down people, REAL talent like Hilary Swank by saying "Nobody cares about them" just because they worship people like Gwen Stefani and Britney Spears.

90 million albums sold worldwide with only 4 albums, a grammy, one of the best selling female artists of all time and she's only 24. she clearly is a huge celebrity and has talent, whether or not its your cup of tea. you cannot even put Paris Hilton and Britney in the same cateogory. Yes maybe in the party girl way, but Britney is someone who came from nothing and made something of herself. Paris was born into this and is milking it for all its worth. To try and discredit Britney because she has made some **** decisions recently is stupid.
clearly you dont like her, and i wasn telling you to feel sorry for her. i just dont understand how someone cannot have some kind of compassion for someone in her postition. you act as if you know her and what goes in outside of what the media shows us.
