shows did writers make, that worked? the one that I can think of is the addition of 7 of 9 to ST: VOY.

Adding Ted McGinley as Jefferson on Married With Children, giving Marcy a second husband.

Recasting the role of Nancy on Family. The original actress was replaced by Meredith Baxter, who brought backbone, spark and sex appeal to the role. The runner-up for the recast role was Cheryl Ladd of Charlie's Angels fame.

Another one is Barney Miller. Originally the show was supposed to be half home/half workplace but the family scenes just dragged the early episodes down. All the best scenes were at the precinct. Kudos to Danny Arnold and the network for recognizing this early on and making it just about the cops. Good call!! :D

that's right; and I think it was first gonna be shot on film instead of videotape; and the original title was gonna be THE LIFE AND TIMES OF CAPTAIN BARNEY MILLER

Adding Worf to Star Trek Deep Space Nine was a very good move.

The addition of Valerie Malone to Beverly Hills 90210 was a BIG plus too.

Jo joining the Facts Of Life really made the show what it became. It wouldn't have been the same without her.
