Well, I've just gotten to the second episode with Pam, but I don't see why everybody at this message board hates her. Is it just because she was new and sort of replaced Vanessa (one seventeen-year-old girl out, another seventeen-year-old girl in)? Or was it because she turned the show into being about "streetwise" kids too?

There were too many people in the house for one. Plus, the way they put Rudy on the backburner sucked not to mention that..

She just sucked on "The Cosby Show", her issues could have been clearly done by one of the Huxtable kids.

Exactly, they had so many other characters to focus on already. There was no need to bring in more characters. I just found Pam unnecessary.

I've only seen two episodes with Pam, but from the little I've seen, I actually find her more interesting than any of the Huxtable kids.

Like the episode where she's thinking about having sex with 'Slide'. Theo or Vanessa could have clearly been giving the same problem.

But Theo wasn't a teenager anymore by then, and Vanessa was almost written out of the show in 7th season, since both the character Vanessa and her actress Tempestt Bledsoe started college that year. Pam was kind of a replacement for Vanessa. I have yet to see an episode with both Vanessa and Pam in it. Furthermore, I actually think Pam feels more "real" than the Huxtable kids. She's more down to Earth and even more interesting to me.
