Most of the time she pronounces the word correctly, but sometimes it comes out more like "wull"...and sometimes her "get" sounds more like "git"...
am I the only one who notices this???
and while I am on the subject sometimes Mike Lookinland will pronounce the word "will" as "weel"...
:D
thoughts???

I would need to hear examples of this. I can't picture the way they sound right now.

I think Bobby (Mike Lookinland, specifically) was once quoted as repeating Jan's "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia" as "Morcia, Morcia, Morcia." I remember hearing that people from Utah pronounce the long "o" as as "ah." For example, the name George sounds like "JAHRJ" instead of "JOHRJ." (I think country singer George Jones, from Texas, does this, too, but I digress.) Since Mike Lookinland was from Utah, that is my best explanation, assuming that Utahns pronounce "ah" like "oh".
Just my two cents!

Do you know any specific episodes where Marcia says well and get?
Also any specific episodes where Bobby says will?
I did notice how sometimes when Marcia says school it sounds like skewl.

Oh, I noticed that so early on into the show when it first aired. That was weird how she pronounced it. Where is Maureen originally from?

Maureen is originally from Los Angeles according to IMDB.com, but I've also read she's from San Fernando, a neighborhood on the north side of the city.

In "The Brady Bunch Movie", they very deliberately had the new Marcia say "skewl", too.

Hmmm, well there goes my theory. Being from southern California myself, there are really no accents...San Fernando is the valley, but any accent from there is exaggerated. Just like the valley girl talk. I wonder if Maureen picked it up from family members who spoke that way, perhaps those family members are from some area outside of California.

okay, Irene,
it is late and I am groggy, but off the top of my head I can come up with only one example...
In the Juliet is the Sun episode she says, "Deny thy father and for-git thy name"
I will go through my DVD's and come up with some more examples...

How about the way she pronounces Warren Mulaney's first name as "Warn?"
:D
