I am frightened of thunderstorms, bees, and large bodies of water. I almost drowned as a child during a family vacation in Quebec. It's haunted me to this day. :(

It's haunted me to this day. :( Number 9 Dream 02-19-2007, 03:29 PM Oh, I definitely hear you when it comes to bees and big bodies of water too. When I was young, I used to make my ex best friend carry me across a field near her house because I knew there were bees in there  I think I was scarred for life after seeing the movie 'My Girl'. I'm also afraid of dogs, flying, windmills (strange fear, I know...they look creepy to me, especially the tall skinny ones), dying, and terminal illnesses. canuckkidd 02-19-2007, 04:02 PM For the longest time I had a really bad fear of public speaking, this phobia really haunted me throughout high school. Even though I got along with most of my classmates there was always a fear of being judged by them. I was always afraid to do class presentations and speeches. I would get really nervous on days leading up the class presentation and at the beginning of presentations. I would constantly worry about everybody looking at me or making a mistake. Teachers college really helped me overcome this phobia, since I had to present many lessons in front of the class. I have no problem speaking in front of a class of students, however, speeches in front of colleagues is a different story. I still have this phobia from time to time but now to a lesser extent. I have learned to control this irrational fear and think positively prior to any presentation I have and make sure I am always prepared. Brian Damage 02-19-2007, 04:47 PM I hate heights. 80s_Fan 02-19-2007, 05:55 PM I am terrified of "spiders" to the point that I always ask someone else to kill it. If I have no choice; then I will do it myself but I have a hard time doing it because I don't want it to land on me. I also hate other insects too. jie3 02-19-2007, 06:36 PM GREAT WHITE SHARKS! I don't why, I've never seen one in real life. I love swimming, but I NEVER swim in the ocean in hot countries. I did once and nearly had a panic attack when some seaweed touched my leg  I am terrified of "spiders" to the point that I always ask someone else to kill it. My sister is afraid of clowns. So's the teenage niece of a friend of mine. Don't like 'em much myself. dawsongirl 02-20-2007, 12:40 AM Pretty much the whole book, minus the ones which are rather rare, like fear of bubble wrap or something. Anyway: Getting sick (this one interferes with my life on, oh, a weekly basis I'd say. Cold and Flu season is like a 4 month panic attack for me) Being left alone. And I mean for long periods of time. I'm a hermit and aloneness is fine with me. My parents dying. Failing. Not being perfect. Which goes with failing I guess. Going broke. Losing my mind. Intimacy. Hugging is as far as I want to go. This one will flat out ruin my life. Birds. I hate birds. Nighthawk76 02-20-2007, 12:48 AM Losing my mind. You'll never see me getting a tattoo. I had to have bloodwork done last month and got so nervous I almost passed out!! :( Paxil has helped me almost get over fear of needles. Odd, because that's not exactly why I take it. It also mostly cured my fear of dogs and cats. Funny how a chemical can affect your fear of something. |
