The Roberts' lives are turned upside-down when a popular family-run neighborhood bar goes under new management. And just wait till you meet the new eccentric owners!

Starring Betty White, Bob Newhart, John Larroquette, and Leslie Nielsen.
1- "The Pilot."- Mipsy Roberts (Betty White), an eccentric rich heiress, while gambling, bets her bar in a poker game. She loses, and new management takes over. Her slightly more level-headed husband George (Bob Newhart) and straightpinned son David (Kelsey Grammer) attempt to get it back by employing an out-of-work lawyer Frank (Leslie Nielsen) to try to make it into a court case. Pete Tomarcus (Judd Hirsch) and Jonathan Viceroy (John Larroquette) attempt to make a repore with their customers to make them feel at home, and rip off a few patrons in the interim.
2- "The Story."- Mipsy tells the story of how she came about being the proprietor of a bar while they're being forced out of the establishment that has been family-run for 60-plus years.
3- "The System."- David's lawyer-friend finds a loophole that allows for Mipsy and company to be 1/2 owner of the drinking saloon.
4- "Newer New Old Management."- The old and new bar managements collide to form a partnership and are troubled so much by each other they have to call on a therapist to straighten them all out, who quickly tells them the prognosis: it's not going to work out. They do not heed the advice and go back to their old fighting ways, figuring that at least some good will come out of it: they can both have a piece of the fortune.
5- "The Letter."- Jonathan pushes for a parking light outside of the busy street where the bar is located after getting hit into by a truck; a letter arrives for Mipsy that tells her of her true descent after much confusion on the matter.
6- "Mrs. Mipsy Roberts."- George feels he is always playing second fiddle to his eccentric wife; Frank works on a troubling case on which nothing seems to add up. David, who always secretly wanted to be a sleuth, helps to unravel the mysteries of the case.
7, 8, and 9- "Memories."- Mipsy finds an attic full of old photos that intrigue her family; An ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW marathon captures Frank's interest, who becomes captivated by how simple life really could be. He drifts into the moment, and forgets all about a hearing he is due at! Jonathan and Pete scheme up new gimmicks when there is a lull in business.
10- "Don't You Go Doing That On Me Now!"- After over a quarter-of-a-century together, Mipsy feels her and George are drifting apart, and that George wants to seek new and more exciting women.
11- "The Love Boat--- Back With A Vengeance!"- A Cruise is just what the Roberts' need, according to Mipsy who thinks the experience will be good for her restless hubby. Guest starring Gavin McLeod in a cameo role.
12- "Q."- A mystery woman pursues David, who hires a bodyguard to protect him.
13- "Pete's Problem."- Pete thinks he is not satisfying his wife well enough, so he turns to the old pro George to ask him what makes him a good lover.
14 and 15- "Distant Memories."- A mother is full of grief when a tragic illness takes charge of her son that involves his becoming forgetful and causes his memory loss. Mipsy consoles the distraught woman so that she can come to terms with it and learn to live with the fact that her son will never again be the same.
