Teen Suffers Three Weeks Of Hiccups

You might get the hiccups from a good belly laugh. But what's happening to Jennifer Mee is no laughing matter.

The 15-year-old Floridian can't stop hiccuping.

For more than three weeks, Jennifer has hiccuped close to 50 times a minute when she's awake. And she's got the doctors stumped.

Blood tests, a CAT scan and an MRI haven't helped. Neither has holding her breath, breathing into a paper bag or drinking out of the wrong side of a glass.

And, yes, people have tried to scare the heck out of her.

Jennifer's mom, Rachel Robidoux, recently turned to the St. Petersburg Times for help. She's hoping a member of the public might have a solution to her daughter's case of the chronic hiccups.

:eek: I hate hiccups as it is for just 30 seconds or so. Three weeks, I'd probably die!!!

That's not a world record, though. There was this guy in the Guinness books who had the hiccups for DECADES.

That's crazy. That poor girl. My mother used to give us a spoonful of sugar when we were kids and had the hiccups. It rarely worked.

A few years ago, I had The Jefferson's theme song playing in my head like a radio for close to a week. It was terrible.

It's horrible when you get the hiccups in public. I always hold my breath when I get them. That usually works.

With all due respect to Julie Andrews, I'd much rather have the Jeffersons song in my head. :D
