Does anyone know of a free software download to take picture stills from a dvd? Thanks!

What stinks is the new version doesn't have that feature. I am thinking of getting the old one back.

There's also a program called Power DVD, I dunno if it's free or not since it came with the computer and also take caps.

What I don't like about VLC is that is saves them as PNG's. I mainly capture images for putting them in the SO Photo Galleries and it only takes Jpegs.

What operating system's on your computer? I have Windows XP, and there's a feature in the "My Pictures" folder that lets the user change image formats from PNGs to Jpgs. Details later.

Well when I save my screen caps, I just open them up in my Paint and I save them as BMP or JPG.

I got XP but I don't see that feature in the folder

That is what I end up doing now, but I liked having it straight to a jpeg in Media Player. I just like saving a step

I have Cyberlink Power DVD which is way better than what Microsoft's WinDVD or anything else because you can take pictures while you watch the DVD or you can stop it and do it their but it's up to you. You should do a search for it and once you try it then you won't be going back to anything you had before...
