Any ideas if it'll be available on DirecTV?

Oooh! Cool!!! Sorry if this is a stupid question, but will it be on Time-Warner Digital Cable? Sounds like an awsome network!

I'm not sure...all I know is that it will be on DirecTV. You'll have to check with your local providers to see if you'll get it.

My Time Warner just switched up its schedule and it added slueth so I hope it adds this as well because I so want to see twin peaks....

Well, I hope Insight cable adds it. We got Sleuth on 01/01/2006 when it debuted. I also hope the shows are unedited. I have been taping the Dragnet 1968 from Sleuth as the episodes run about 25 minutes and appear to be unedited. I have very little hope that it will be released on dvd as it seems to have been stalled out after Dragnet 1967.

I notice that AHP gets a crummy time slot. Not surprising as they feel most people today will not want to watch intelligent programming. Oh well, that is what vcr's are for.

It will be on DirecTV.

channel TBA (to be announced)

Chiller TV website:
http://www.chillertv.com/

All's there is its home page. Content will be added as the March 1st date gets closer to launch.

Great schedule! Especially for die-hard horror fans!

Wonder if The Munsters and The Addams Family will be part of the schedule someday? I hope also that some horror-themed cartoon shows such as Scooby-Doo, Groovy Ghoulies and others I can't think of will probably be on Chiller's Saturday morning line-up if it tends to have one in the future.

You can only request the channel to your Cable System! We can't even email the new channel yet! We always need new channels!

bossradio: Munsters and Addams Family are licensed by TV Land, so they can't. Hopefully they can get some other horror-themed sitcoms in there. Maybe the new Munsters series?

Thanks for all this info. I've been anxiously awaiting the schedule for this new channel, and it doesn't look like it will disappoint, my DTivo will be working overtime. Any idea of whether this channel will be like Sleuth in that it shows non-syndicated versions (or at least not as chopped up as those that end up on other channels such as Sci-Fi and TVLand)? Also any idea on how often they'll rotate out the short-lived shows? Sci-Fi used to show some of my guilty pleasures (Darkroom, Otherworld, The Fantastic Journey, Automan, The Invisible Man, etc.). I know they're not all horror, but it's been a while since they've made rotation and I'd love to see them unedited.

According to wikipedia (which could be wrong), Chiller will be available on channel 257 on DirecTV, between TCM and FMC.

This is my first post - yay! :)

I added that to Wikipedia. :D

I happened to have Sleuth on recently and noticed the Chiller promo (which mentioned the channel number) and later I was using TiVo to look up upcoming horror films. TiVo listed the '80s horror film American Gothic playing on The 101. Puzzled, I pulled up the TV listings for The 101 this weekend and noticed the promo for the Chiller preview which also mentioned the channel number.

Here's some new Chiller info. I've been watching NBC Universal Cable's website like a hawk these past few days/weeks waiting for them to add a Chiller section; voila! They did so early this morning!

Here's Chiller's promo reel...

http://www.chillertv.com

Is it March 1st yet? popcorn:

I'll definitely be watching the Chiller previews on The 101 on DIRECTV tonight and tomorrow and Sleuth this weekend.

Here's their entire March schedule, BTW.

http://www.nbcunicable.com/insidenbccable/pdf/chiller/schedules/march2007.pdf

Any thoughts on the schedule? I'm most looking forward to the Abbott and Costello monster movies that Chiller will be airing this weekend. My TiVo's definitely going to be getting even more of a workout.

And no, I'm not an NBC Universal shill. I'm just looking forward (I am a horror geek) to seeing the series (some of which haven't aired on television in almost/more than a decade) and movies that Chiller will be airing.

I look forward to lively TV discussions with all of you in the future.

I guess possibly calling them maybe???
I have Time Warner Digital Cable too, and I was sure since we get the Sleuth channel that we'd get this...
I'm dying to see Alfred Hitchcock Presents again!!

I've read on various other messageboards people stating that their cable lineups would be changing on March 1st. Some were Comcast customers; I'd check to see if the lineup in your area is going to change any time soon. If not, call Time Warner and pester them until they give you Chiller.

i am pretty confident that my Time-Warner cable will add the Chiller network alongside the Sleuth network - if only so they can justify another rate increase (only to take AWAY more channels at the same time)

Yeah every now and then I'll head over to Comcast's website to see what they're offering on digital cable here in Savannah. The only thing I miss is Nick GAS but Viacom's flipping that channel to a new format, I hear. Heck, they've never offered IFC here! We had DIRECTV back in 1996 (when it was DSS and you had to order your HBOs, Cinemaxes, and Showtimes through a separate company, U.S.S.B.) but went back to cable for a while. We came back to DIRECTV in early 2005 and it's cheaper than what we were paying for Comcast digital cable, as we were able to bundle our DSL, phone, and DIRECTV together through BellSouth (soon to be AT&T). I love their XM satellite radio music channels but the main thing I really like about having DIRECTV is if a new channel launches that I'm interested in (i.e. Chiller), more often than not we'll get it on the launch date or a little after.

Good luck, robbyrob and Jack100! Keep calling Time Warner about Chiller. Have friends and family call. It may sound a bit crazy but if they receive incessant calls wanting them to add Chiller to their lineup and the volume of said calls keep growing, you'll be watching Chiller before you know it. Let me, and the rest of us, know how it goes! :)

I'm waiting for my bill where along with it they announce a new line up or channel changes! Let's hope I will be pleasantly surprised! Yea, I hear what some are you are saying about when they have to take away a channel to add another channel to avoid a price hike.

For instance, they added Nick Toons (I think on Channel 157 in our area) but said that as of March 15, they plan to drop Nick 2. (Channel 154) (Which is just Nickelodeon three hours later, so that's not too bad.)

When Sleuth came out, it replaced a channel called Trio on 170. BBC America is on 171 and Logo, (The Gay/Lesbian movie and lifestyle network) was added on 172.

If they were going to drop something to avoid a rate hike, it would probably be BBC America. (Does anyone get the regular BBC channel on another cable system or dish BTW?) I am sure that they would most likely put Chiller next to Sleuth. (Same company and channel type.)

If they do a drop a channel to add a channel, most likely no rate increase. If they add a channel or two without a drop, they usually announce a slight rate hike the following month.

Jack

PS. Does anyone know or have a composite list of ALL cable/dish operators that will carry Chiller on March 1st, or plan to carry Chiller soon?

Message from NBC/Universal:

"Chiller on Sleuth

"Get a sneak peek of our newest network Chiller, launching on March 1st. Showcasing films such as The Island, I Saw What You Did, Wait Until Dark, and Psycho ('98), all afternoon and late into the night. Dare to Watch!

"Saturday, February 25 beginning at 4PM ET"

Please note: Saturday is February 24, not the 25th! :dizzy:

Edit: I just checked Sleuth's schedule. The sneak peek is Sunday, February 25.

Everyone,

You should do what I did. Word Process a LETTER (not a phone call or e-mail) and address it to the Programing Department of your local cable company or satellite dish office requesting that they add CHILLER TV to your line-up. A line or two of compliment, followed by a simple request to add Chiller TV to your services, might get the channel on-board sooner for all of us.

Contact Programing at Dish Network (Satellite) as well as the following cable companies through a snail-mail letter: (Whoever your provider is.)

Time Warner Cable
Cox
Charter Cable
Comcast
Adelphia
Cablevision

If you don't have time to write to your cable company's programing department, than call or e-mail them. But a letter might have more favorable results!

Also,

An idea might be to make a list of cable and other dish providers who will be carrying the channel as of the March 1st launch date or soon thereafter. Post in this thread any information updates! If your provider says no, DON'T GIVE UP! There is safety in numbers!

I'm just curious, Do you have any connections with any of the channels, directv, dish network etc...? I think it's great that you post all this info but how you manage to find out about this stuff before anyone else is something I'll never understand and I've been doing this for over 30 years now. My only regret is that this message board hasn't been around that long.

So, anyone with DirecTV notice this showing up in the guide yet? My box has a 2 week EPG, and neither the channel nor a search for the programs shows up. Also, as of today neither the DirecTV nor TV Guide listings show the channel for the March 1 guide. Strange for channel they've been hyping quite a bit.

I really hope that all the cable and dish operators pick up this channel! (Especially Time Warner, which is my provider!)

What would REALLY be awesome is CHILLER showing the old Elvira B-grade horror movies that they used to show on local syndication networks late Saturday nights about 20 years ago!

Several days ago my TiVo's blue 'CHANNEL ADDITION' screen came up and brought to my attention that channel 257 had been added. If I hit the guide button on the TiVo remote while I'm watching TV and enter the channel number 257 or if I look up programming on channel 257 via the browse by channel option, SIGN OFF is listed until 6AM on Thursday; after that, the entire Chiller schedule (for close to two weeks, per the TiVo norm) is available for me to perouse. If I enter channel 257 into my remote plainly, nothing happens and the DIRECTV banner states "Channel Not Listed" and will continue to until, no doubt, 6AM tomorrow. Another messageboard I frequent has members stating that they can't pull up listings or get the channel to show on their TiVo guide. I don't know exactly how *I* managed to get Chiller's schedule on my TiVo.

Is this on a stand alone TiVO hooked to a DirecTV receiver?

A strange thing happened the other day. I have an old Hughes GAEB0 receiver in the bedroom, and it frequently has problems. One of the many strange things it does is if you're in the guide and you move to a new program, it will from time to time display a channel that's not the one selected (sometimes I get CNN when I'm tuned to PBS). If you then try to change the channel, the box locks up and needs a reboot. The other day my 15 month old daughter randomly turned on the TV, I looked over at her and I saw a channel on screen with the Chiller (just the word) logo on it. I couldn't place the program, but it had the Reverend/ werewolf guy from Silver Bullet in a bar or dancehall and there was a scuffle and someone was on the floor. I wasn't paying much attention, just figured that maybe they premiered the channel early. So I hit the guide button to see what it was and the screen went black. I rebooted and couldn't find any trace of it starting early, and I have no idea what channel the box thought it was tuned into. That box doesn't have the guide for 257 listed either.

Yes, I have a stand alone TiVo I use along with an IR cable and regular DIRECTV receiver.

Chiller's awesome so far. It was really cool to watch the pilot episode of Friday The 13th: The Series again, with Sarah Polley as a guest star. Alfred Hitchcock Presents is on now, followed by a Tales From The Crypt marathon. Tonight at 9PM Chiller's airing The Shining commercial-free.

Well,

I've got cable. No dish and no Chiller TV, Damn! But it might be that because the channel is so new that it hasn't been officially activated into your Tivo Guide yet. It might take a day two to get the menu upgrade. If you still have these problems by Monday, I'd call Direct TV and inquire about the issue.

As I figured, Chiller didn't show up in the guide until 3 am PST. I got up just to make sure, hit record and went back to bed. Finished watching both New Alfred Hitchcock's and was pleasantly surprised that they held up (will have to see more though). I couldn't believe how much I remembered of 'Man From the South' since I'm sure I've never seen the series in syndication and was only 8 when it premiered. Good thing about this channel and tivo is that I doubt I'll ever turn on the tv and have nothing to watch.

Dish Network seems to have this habit of adding channels and not making an announcement, so this will probably appear out of the blue someday. Sleuth did the same thing. Took me awhile to even know what it was, because it just, poof, appeared. Other channels have been like that too.

popcorn:http://www.nbcunicable.com/insidenbccable/img/chiller/logos/chillerlogotag_sm.jpg

Right now Stephen King's Cat's Eye is on; after that, Good Vs. Evil, two episodes of Monsters, then an encore airing of the two-hour pilot episode of Twin Peaks; after that they'll be airing the pilot episode of American Gothic and follow that up with Dial M For Murder. Later, in the middle of the night/early morning (late tonight/early Sunday morning), Chiller is airing two of the Abbott and Costello monster movies - Abbott and Costello Meet The Mummy, Abbott and Costello Meet The Invisible Man - with two others set to air later in the month.

Other movies slated to air in the coming weeks on Chiller (along with more contemporary horror movies) are some really kick-ass classic stuff...It Came From Outer Space, Tarantula, Werewolf Of London, Frankenstein 1970, The Haunting (1963), Hitchcock’s Stage Fright, and many more. Monday afternoon and evening they’ll air the 1943 Boris Karloff film The Body Snatcher.

I sincerely hope those of you with cable and DISH Network are soon able to bask in the very, very awesome glow of this amazing channel VERY soon. I'm also glad to have "stumbled" on Chiller TV this morning. I was flipping through the DirecTV Guide and as I made my way through the channels, I see this CHILL on channel 257. Hmmm..what's this? Don't recognize it...I check it out and there's Night Gallery and AHP and Twin Peaks and movies, etc. Terrific! As someone else said, I think my Tivo's are gonna be busier than ever now. I like it so much already that I haven't changed the channel all day!
Thank God for DirecTV and the way they seem to have the new channels available right away.

I noticed this channel while surfing the other day. I watched a few episodes of Night Gallery... it looks great and I'm thrilled there is a new network with this kind of programming!

[QUOTE=jasoncinema]Yes, I have a stand alone TiVo I use along with an IR cable and regular DIRECTV receiver.

Chiller's awesome so far. It was really cool to watch the pilot episode of Friday The 13th: The Series again, with Sarah Polley as a guest star.

Friday The 13th: The Series is one of my all-time favorite television shows. I sure wish I had that station. I wish Friday The 13th: The Series was on DVD. I would definitely buy it.
