Hi, I'm new to the forum but it's great to see so many Unsolved Mysteries fans. Hopefully, forums like this are the reason it's back on the air (even though on the not-so-available Lifetime Real Women network.)

Anyway, my question is about the Live episode that happened in 1991 or 1992.
I have seen one of the updates shown on Lifetime, but have any of the other segments been shown since it's original airdate?

The only two that made it to Lifetime from that 90 minute broadcast were the Gilbert Ortiz and Judi Davis Dymond/Becky Terry stories.

Gibert Ortiz was the poisoned milkshake case with the infamous and often discussed "that man has Jonathan" scene, and Judi Davis Dymond was the woman stricken with polio who was searching for her childhood friend Becky Terry. They were reunited live, on the air, via telephone when the story was originally shown.

That Lost Love story was so cute... they shared the same boyfriend! I remember his ears being really big and cute. :)

The segment by far that caught my attention the most on the Live broadcast was the one of the grandmother who had kidnapped her grandson (in fact it wasn't the first time she had kidnapped him). I was also curious whether he was ever located and a year or so ago his mother bumped up my thread and said that he was found shortly after the Live broadcast aired and he was doing very well.

Is that the one where the grandmother was trying to convince a court that her grandson was being exposed to Satanic information, when in actuality SHE was the one making him watch the videos?

If so, I'm glad they caught her and reunited the grandson with his mother.

Well no thats not the one I'm referring to but that little boys name was Jared Peters and he was reunited with his mother.

The one I'm talking about was only shown on the Live broadcast. His name was John Monika I believe. His mother, Kamela Harman, had recently split up with her husband and John was a baby so they lived with her mother for a while. She said her mother was upset that she wanted to better herself and went back to school while her mother thought she should just stay home and collect welfare. I remember the house in the reenactment was very pretty, out in a wooded area with lots of windows. One day Kamela came home and all the locks had been changed and thats when everything started. She abducted him a few times if I remember and then one morning Kamela woke up and there was a note from her mom saying something like you need a rest and said she'd take John and have him back at the end of the summer but she never did. Then they were profiled on UM and thankfully he was reunited with his mother soon after.

Wow, I can't believe I forget that the Gilbert Ortiz segment was aired during the live broadcast. I think the quote has something to do with that. I use that quote all the time.

I remember when I was in elementary school, the school made a big deal about Unsolved Mysteries coming to film at our school. I was little then, so I was hoping I'd get to see Robert Stack. Instead it was a brief exterior shot of the kid leaving school. I was very disappointed at the time. I'm glad the case got solved.

They re-aired the Gilbert Ortiz segment the other day. Maybe they is my weird sense of humor taking over, but couldn't they have picked a different water bottle for the reenactment? Even Robert Stack was holding the water bottle with the basketballs on it. With the silly water bottle, and "that man has Jonathan" the episode is comical for a case that is pretty sad.

At last Gilbert was reunited with his son.

I think Stack stated that they tried to get a bottle that was as close to the one that was actually used as possible.

Do you remember which segment was filmed at your school?

It's been a while since I've seen the segment, but I think it was about an abduction. It's only like a 3 second clip of the outside of the school. I think the kid was picked up from school.

I wonder if Judi and Becky ever stayed in touch? I know they reunited after the show.... interesting to know if they are still friends...
