It's been awhile, but I think he probably said the salt shaker is empty.

This is the only episode where there is a door on the left of the Mertz' apartment. It is supposed to lead to the kitchen and the balcony but that is impossible according to the floor plan of the building.
What Ricky says about the salt is incomprehensable. It sounds like "the salt cellar is empty." He definately doesn't say "salt shaker." The Spanish word for salt shaker is "salero," so I think he might be saying something close to that.

Then it probably was salt cellar; salt cellar is the same as salt shaker. Cellar was probably the popular choice back then. I've noticed in many programs from England, they'll use the term cellar rather than shaker.

I have to check out that salt sentence when it comes on. I have never noticed this.
