View Full Version : KLINE'S FAULTY MEMORY
pscisme 02-11-2007, 07:36 PM Just watched Season 7 "Opening Night" ep on DVD with Richard Kline's commentary turned on.
Though generally very entertaining and insightful, his commentary DID have at least one big blooper, which was compounded by him making the same mistake several times.
Kline mentions that he was given the opportunity to continue playing Larry Dallas by joining the cast of "Three's A Crowd," but that he turned it down in favor of doing a pilot with Shelly Fabares for a projected sitcom called "His and Hers."
Kline states that he had no regrets about the decision, particularly since "Three's A Crowd" only lasted for 13 eps!
Of course, "Crowd" ran the entire 1984-85 season and one could understand Kline not remembering this if only he hadn't guested on EPISODE 18 of the series! Strangely, the actor makes no mention of this fact...
Also, I'm wondering: does anyone know if the "His and Hers" pilot Kline shot was related to the "His and Hers" series Kline co-starred in, supporting Martin Mull a few years later on CBS? Ironically, this series DID expire after 13 episodes!
I've gotta admit, some of these commentaries are entertaining despite themselves, usually in the form of participants who embellish the history and importance of their show, but this particular commentary is the first I've heard where an actor actually minimizes the success of a show he participated in!
Jude The Obscure 03-24-2007, 01:56 PM Was wondering this myself as I just watched the episode. Man, it's funny that I know the facts better than he did, and he was in the shows!
johntealman 02-13-2008, 11:48 PM I want to know if any of the cast make any royalties from the syndication or DVD sales. Do you think it was in their contracts? I know Seinfeld makes a ton of money from DVD sales and syndication.

Those two shows weren't related. CBS aired his pilot in the spring of 1984 even before the final of TC aired. I noticed that goof too. I always think it's funny when actors goof up when they were there.

On Larry King, Suzanne Somers said that she doesn't get paid anything for the DVDs/syndication. She seemed pretty angry about it. I'm pretty sure none of the other people in the cast are getting a dime in royalties either.

He meant 13 + 9=22 eps for the 84-85 season
LOL
bonla 04-29-2008, 09:53 AM the first I've heard where an actor actually minimizes the success of a show he participated in.
