It started in Europe and it's goal is to see how 7 million people from all over the world connect to one another. The premise is kind of like the ties that the people on the show LOST have (6 degrees of seperation theory).
Anyway, this game is actually kind of kool because once you get going you can end up connected to people all over the world. They don't ask for personal information. All you need to do is create a username and password. Even giving them your e-mail is optional.
