View Full Version : Straight characters who find themselves in gay situations?
Janice 02-10-2007, 10:32 PM On Coach, Hayden ended up in a gay bar, but he didn't know it. He was sitting at the bar and two guys were slow dancing behind him.
On Becker, Linda books Dr. Becker on a gay cruise by mistake. We don't see him on the cruise, but he was hilarious when he returned. When asked when he figured out it was a gay cruise, he said, "Somewhere between YM and CA."
ssjenk6 02-10-2007, 10:49 PM On the Golden Girls, one of Dorothy's old friends is a lesbian and falls for Rose and Rose is the last to know.
Janice 02-10-2007, 11:00 PM Two more Becker examples.
One of Becker's old college buddie's comes to see him, but he's had a sex change and is now a beautiful woman. Becker gets angry and writes him off...then reconsiders, and it ends happily.
Becker got shot outside a gay bar, and I guess he was taken inside for help. For the rest of the episode, the big thug-type cop kept insisting that Becker was gay, no matter how much he told him he wasn't.

Janice 02-11-2007, 01:24 PM on Seinfeld, when some woman at the restaurant who ends up being a journalist thinks George and Jerry are a couple.
That's right, lol. Was that the one with, "Not that there's anything wrong with it" said throughout the show?
88survivor 02-11-2007, 02:36 PM On the Buffalo Bill show, there was an episode where Bill was dating this Brazilian soap actress when it was revealed that she was a tranvestite right around the time when he was about to kiss her....
canuckkidd 02-11-2007, 03:23 PM In Beverly Hills 90210 when Brandon's car breaks down Steve and himself go into a bar to call for help and realize there are no women in the bar. They both suddenly realize they have just walked into a gay bar full of men.
In the later seasons Steve also dates a tranvestite only he does not know it till later.
Chocoholic 02-12-2007, 09:28 AM I remember those Taxi moments
During the Space Station episode of NewsRadio, Bill and Matthew wound up as the only two human beings left and had to somehow repopulate the earth. (Personally, I think that Matthew breeding would have been a lot more tragic than the extinction of the human race ;) )
88survivor 02-12-2007, 01:59 PM Wouldn't the controversial episode from 30 Something count as well? The bed scene, that is?
Ireneparalegal 02-12-2007, 11:21 PM On Kings of Queens, Spence and Danny pretended to be gay at a ski resort/time share.
snl 70s show fan 02-13-2007, 02:56 AM on that 70s show eric formans male study partner had a crush on him
treky 02-13-2007, 03:59 AM there was a HILARIOUS scene on FRASIER once when Frasier and Niles are walking back from playing tennis or something, (I forget why they couldn't drive) and Frasier's wearing a tennis shorts and a shirt that are too small (again, I forget why) and he goes into a bar to meet some guy (I forget who) and Niles says he'll wait outside, only they both don't know it's a gay bar. So Frasier walks in and since it's crowded he doesn't see the guy. So, he walks up to the bartender and says   "Excuse me, I'm looking for a guy"!
On the short-lived THE BOB CRANE SHOW-a sitcom from the mid-70s (I forget what year) there was an episode where he thought a gay guy had a crush on him.
Once on GOMER PYLE: U.S.M.C. Gomer and Sgt. Carter went into a jewlery store to buy an engagment ring for Gomer, and the jewler thought it was for the 2 of them.
Another time on AMERICA TONIGHT Barth asked Jerry what he did that weekend, and Jerry was saying how he and "Happy" Kine (the bandleader) went into a disco (this was in 1977) called "All the Kings Men" (they were both oblivious the whole time to the fact that it's a gay disco! lol:   ) and they thought that the guys were all dancing with each other because there were no woman in the place, so, not wanting to appear out of place, they started dancing with each other too:lol:
then he said to Barth that one of the guys said he wanted to talk to him (Barth) so Jerry gave him his phone number (Barths number)
It was HILARIOUS listening to Jerry say all this; still oblivious to the fact the place was a gay disco!
Another time on FRASIER; Patrick Stewart played a gay opera star who thought that Frasier was also gay, and he (Patrick Stewart) was attracted to him.
(I once heard Patrick Stewart say that that was his first sitcom; and he really enjoyed doing it!)
Another time, Frasier invited the new station manager to his apt. for dinner, not knowing the guy was gay and the guy thought Frasier also was and that he was asking him on a date!

Joey hung on a pole with Ross under him ...they also had used t zone facials and Chandler styled Joey's eyebrows...
canuckkidd 02-14-2007, 01:09 PM On Full House Danny and Joey Dress up as females and sneak into a sorority party to try and steal a mascot that was stolen from their fraternity when they were in college.
catlover79 02-16-2007, 11:43 AM Also on Frasier, Frasier was trying to fix up Daphne with a male friend (Eric Lutes, who played Del on Caroline in the City). Frasier keeps missing the hints that the guy is sending that he is really interested in Frasier.
I remember Judd Hirsch dancing on the bar at the gay bar. Tony then walks in, shocked. Then he says, "Alex, Elaine is getting her heart broken and you're having a great time here dancing."
