"Brothers-In-Law" stars Bob Saget as Kevin Carroll, the head writer for a TV comedy-talk show hosted by Marjorie Bridges, an egotistical, self-centered, pushy [at least off-camera] hostess [Mariette Hartley] who, in addition to living with his loving wife Denise Hope Carroll [Kelly Lynch] and two boys Eric [Jake Scott] and Austin [Bradley Pierce] lives with Denise's brother George Hale [Dan Castellaneta], who also works on the Bridges show's writing staff [Kevin reluctantly hired him at the behest of the show's producer, Miguel Gonzales, played by Edward James Olmos]. George, however, is not interested in writing, he just wants to be an on-camera performer, particularly as an impressionist, but Miguel and Kevin want him to stick to writing. Also featured are Jeannetta Arnette as Melinda Crosby, and Edie McClurg as Beverly Seaver, Kevin and George's co-writers.

FYI, Saget and Hartley worked together once before in 1987 on CBS' "The Morning Program", one of CBS' many (oft-poorly) rated morning shows. It lasted 9 months and ended just in time for Saget to jump to Full House.

Sample Plot: 'The Dinner Party": Denise and Kevin throw a dinner party to honor Marjorie for her talk-show success. However, things go awry when Marjorie's rude attitude gets in the way. She refuses to sign autographs for K. and D.'s kids because she hates children, criticizes Denise's cooking, stating that wood and glue taste better, and keeps on yapping away until George tosses his burning cigar onto Marjorie's new dress accidentally, causing it to burn, after which George throws his beer onto the dress, putting out the fire. Marjorie thus feels humiliated and she and her assistant, Shari Woodward, leave in embarrassment. Melinda and Beverly, along with Miguel, are at the party as well, having a good laugh at Marjorie's expense.

Christopher McDonald plays Ross Berman, Marjorie's harrassed talent booker, who, behind her back, calls her a "diva", a term Marjorie hates. Also, Melissa Clayton portrays Judy Acker, drummer and leader of Marjorie's eight-piece half-man, half-woman band, with whom the hostess gets along with on-camera, but off, Marjorie is her same nasty self.

Julie McCullough will play Shari Woodward, Marjorie's harried and harrassed personal assistant, who, along with Ross, suffers a great deal from Marjorie's verbal abuse.

"Who's A Diva?". A magazine interviews the staff of "Here's Marjorie" to discuss their relationship with the star. However, when Ross refers to Marjorie as a diva, she blows her top and fires Ross. However, Kevin and George intervene and have Ross rehired.

In "What The...?", Melinda and Beverly come up with what they and Kevin think is a killer monologue, however, just before air time, Marjorie throws out the jokes [to Melinda's and Beverly's horror and disgust] and instead opens her show by conducting Judy's band [Judy handles her drums]. Also, Kevin and Denise try talking George into giving up beer and cigars, to no avail.

"The Burning Couch"; Kevin and Denise go out for a Saturday night on the town and leave George in charge of the boys. However, after sending the boys of to bed, George, smoking a cigar, falls asleep on the sofa, creating a great big fire, which is doused when Austin throws George's beer on the couch. When K. and D. return, they are horrified, and Denise slaps George in the face. They refuse to speak to George all day Sunday. Also, Dave Coulier and Hank Azaria play a duo that guests on Marjorie's show. They tell a joke that is so shocking the whole audience howls in horror, and Marjorie shakes her head in embarrassment [the viewers see the back of her head for a couple of minutes]. Finally, Marjorie bans the guys from her show and chews out Ross.

In "Me And My Big...Pen", George writes jokes which poke fun at Marjorie's real life demeanor. He starts to have second thoughts and finds a way to get into her office, to the surprise of Marjorie's personal assistant, Shari, who, along with Miguel, demand to know what's going on. George explains that he is fearing for his job.

Ricardo Montalban makes a guest appearance as Miguel's father, Enrique, who's happy to see his son excel. When Miguel takes his dad to work, however, Enrique is appalled at the way Marjorie treats his son. Just as Enrique defends Miguel, Marjorie tells him off, then fires Miguel. Kevin, however, intervenes and threatens to quit. After several discussions, Marjorie gives in and apologizes, then rehires her producer.

While the writing staff is working on jokes for Marjorie's monologue, George overhears the hostess yelling at Ross and upon leaving the writer's room, seeing Ross being tossed out on his behind, physically. The writers try to help him out. A few minutes later, Marjorie suffers-uncharacteristically-pangs of guilt and remorse over what she had done to Ross. She next makes amends and apologizes, tearfully, to him.
