I think he very underrated. Look at what he was able to do. As a young boy he was able to keep a role in an adult show and still have his quirks while playing the normal one. It also didn't hurt that he became cuter as the show went on. ;)

He was good on Soap but out of place IMO as the only one with an inexplicable working class Brooklyn accent in an elite Connecticut family.

I was just watching him today in the episode where Leslie takes him to the hole in the wall in the sticks and they see another married teacher, Eunice cheating on Dutch, and Chester cheating on Jessica. The teacher gf is so disturbing by today’s standards. And then she went nuts.

I recall that controversial storyline as a kid. I did not know the teacher went nuts, what caused her breakdown?

This is 100% NOT directed at you, but writers back then were likely males who did not want to portray women in a good light at times. That was criminal, lol. And I am a HUGE Soap fan but that one icked me out as a twelve year old. She had a breakdown as a way of punishing her for sleeping with a minor is my best guess.

Leslie was unstable. She had just divorced an overbearing hothead and then became infatuated with a teenage virgin who was her “special needs” student. Billy was recovering from the trauma from the cult experience and she was helping him catch up with his studies.

She was afraid of being alone. She told him that when he first thanked her for helping him off the clock. She had no one to go home to so she turned her sights on him knowing she could fulfill a fantasy.

What she should have seen coming was the reality that once the initial awe and excitement wore off, he would move on and go back to his 17 year old boy’s life where there was no place for his 28 year old divorced teacher.

That’s what pushed her over the edge-getting abandoned by the sweet child she thought was so safe to “love. (It was really infatuation).
