Going back to 1982, we were upset over the fact that Tom Wopat and John Schneider temporarily left The Dukes of Hazzard over a contract dispute. Bo and Luke for much of the season were replaced by their cousins, Coy and Vance. Meanwhile on Happy Days, Joanie and Chachi were heading off to Chicago to be with their band. Joanie's southern cousin, K.C., comes to the Cunningham house. Even though Happy Days was beginning to wind down that season, having been on the air since 1974, I've always enjoyed seeing Joanie making some appearances that season. I liked seeing both her and K.C. together. Compared to The Dukes of Hazzard's Coy and Vance, K.C. and Joanie were more enjoyable to watch. I remember the episode "There's No Business Like No Business", where Howard, Joanie's father and K.C.'s uncle, was being challenged over the fact that a nearby mall was taking all of his business. He was faced with closing Cunningham Hardware, but Fonzie, as opitimistic as he is, wouldn't allow that to happen. In the end, after taking a long walk to regather himself, Howard decides to relocate his business into an area where he wouldn't be customer challenged. Marion likes the move, although she now understands they'll have to refinance their house. Fonzie taught both K.C. and Joanie to have faith in Howard. Later that season, Joanie comes home after deciding to leave her's and Chachi's band. She was temporarily out of sorts, until Fonzie snapped her out of her mental funk. He brings her to Arnold's, where her cousin K.C. and their boy-crazy best friend, Jenny, are waiting. I have to believe with both her cousin and their best friend waiting on her to make an appearance, that has to be the primary reason Fonzie brought Joanie down to Arnold's. Now, if K.C. stayed on for season 11, she'd take over her cousin Richie's old room. She and Joanie would continue to interract in the same way as the previous season. Joanie would be teaching and K.C. would have to pick her up from work, then join the rest of the gang at Arnold's. Of course, Fonzie would still be there to give them any kind of advice that they'll need later. Bottom line, between K.C. and Joanie and The Dukes of Hazzard's Coy and Vance, I'd prefer the Cunningham cousins, because they interract well with each other and are more enjoyable to watch. What do you think?
