Ragged Mile 02-06-2007, 10:40 PM OK I can't name 20 BUT ... does anyone remember the episode with a ship that was haunted? Crew members would have strange sightings of people ... Investigators left a tape recorder in the bowels of the ship in the middle of the night and recorded some bizarre sounds that should not have happened. My hairs stood up on end!
greatgarrett2 02-07-2007, 08:21 PM OK I can't name 20 BUT ... does anyone remember the episode with a ship that was haunted? Crew members would have strange sightings of people ... Investigators left a tape recorder in the bowels of the ship in the middle of the night and recorded some bizarre sounds that should not have happened. My hairs stood up on end!
Yes.....I think you're referring to the Queen Mary if I'm not mistaken. With the footprints at the pool and the old woman?
LooksLikeCRicci 02-07-2007, 09:06 PM Don't forget the little children laughing while the footprints were being made at the pool. I don't like ghost stories, normally, but this one made me shiver....
Ragged Mile 02-08-2007, 01:35 PM Yes.....I think you're referring to the Queen Mary if I'm not mistaken. With the footprints at the pool and the old woman?

LooksLikeCRicci 07-08-2007, 10:34 PM Oh, crap. I need to amend my top 25 to an even 26... I have to add Dannion Brinkley, whose psychic abilites solved a murder that took place less than a mile from my home. (Yep.. that double murder in Montana that his abilities cracked? I lived RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD from that... very dark time in our little town's history...)
Waitaminute... 27: I have to add Bo Tanner. You know... a lot of strange s**t DOES go down in Montana...
LooksLikeCRicci 07-08-2007, 10:36 PM The lady who poisoned her family (i forgot her name)
Marie Hilley. *shiver* EVIL woman... good segment. :) (In fake Southern accent) "Frank, ya gotta eat!"
wiseguy182 07-09-2007, 06:33 AM For me, the best cases (in a sense) were the ones that I really wracked my brain over because there was so much evidence on both sides, that it's difficult to lean one way or another. I refer to these as "UM classic cases" and they are as follows.
-Larry Race
-Stuart Heaton
-Glen Consagra
-The Wackers
Oddly enough, most of those are final appeals and somewhat controversial segments.
MegtheEgg86 03-10-2009, 03:21 PM I know this thread is 400 years old. Call me the Dog, I like to dig things up.

TracyLynnS 03-11-2009, 11:25 AM Here are my picks, in no particular order, and I'm sure I've left out at least 20 other favorites.
Angela Hammond - This is the one case when every time I see it, I want to go back in time and keep her from meeting her fate.
The Black Hope Curse - Normally I don't believe in ghost stories, but this one doesn't seem like a hoax to me, so that makes it more interesting.
The Florida Haunted House with the Fat Husband and the Skinny Meth Wife - I love this one for all the opposite reasons I love the Black Hope Curse. This one is ridiculously funny. But it must be watched in the original, with the "sacrificed snails" and all.
Circleville Letters - I want to see this one made into a TV movie.
Ethel Kidd - Her story hurts so much because she had moved there to get away from violent crime and to be near her family, yet she suffered one of the most violent murders ever.
Underground Tunnel Thieves - Because I've not seen this one yet, and everyone is talking about how great it is!!!!
The Wackers - Because they're so darn wacky.
Boston Strangler - I can understand women allowing a "repairman" into their apartments, but some strange guy who says he's a clothing rep who is there to take the measurements of their bust, waist, and hips? Holy cow! And they bought that story and let him in? Carazay
The Tennessee Adoption Home - Sad all the way around, that woman (Georgia Tan?) was evil.
The Church Explosion - If that went down like they said, I have to credit Divine intervention with keeping all those people away from the building that night. That's cool.
49R Hugs - I think this one is very interesting to debunk the cops theory of it being a football related stranger killing.
Lisa Marie Kimmel - Just the fact that the perp buried her car whole, in his yard, has stuck with me every day since I've seen this story. The whole thing is heartbreaking and disturbing.
Chaim Weiss - This was a kid who had his whole life to live and somebody knows something and they're not talking. That really ticks me off.
Wendy Camp - Well, what can I say, I'd like to commit a felony or three, of my own regarding this one.
Tammy Lynn Leppert - She was just getting started in a hollywood career when something happened that caused her to disappear. I don't know if she had a bad acid trip at that party after Spring Break wrapped up, or if she saw something she shouldn't have, or if the stress was just making her crazy. Another young life gone.
Jodi Huisentruitt - I was always surprised that no one from her apartment complex was able to get outside to see what happened to her, with what must have been a lot of screaming and struggling going on. When this first happened, I felt like she'd be found within the first 5 or 10 years but there are still no clues.
Mastermind 03-11-2009, 12:02 PM My top 15 Bizzare Murders
1. Circleville Letters- no screenwriter could make up such an amazing case like this. So many levels to it. Yet no real answers
2. Blair Adams- another bizzare case with no real answers to it.
3. Ohio Prostitute Killer- the most frightenely real portarayal of a serial killer I have ever scene on film or television next to David Fincher;s Zodiac. It;s shocking to imagine that he may have killed up to 200 women. and still isn't caught? Nice view of how prostitution even exists in places you rarely expect it. The visuals of the unknown victims scares the crap out of me each time. This is wht a serial killer case is like. Nobody starts investigating untill the body count reaches a significant level.
4. Tammy Leppert- So much beauty so much potential, so much of a mystery as to what really happened to her. She reminds me of Laura Palmer in the Twin Peaks series.
5. Cindy James- There is nothin more frightening than being attacked by an unknown enemy, whether real or imagined)
6. Patricia Meehan- That haunting self-photograph is one of my earliest memories of this show and one that will stay with me for a long time.
7. Ayleen Conway- The scenes of her empty house with all the activities going on it scares me for some reason.
8. Zip Gun Bomber- Frightening, absolutely frightening in concept.
9. Liz Carmichael & the Dale- the whole twist of her being a transvetite is just surreal.
10. Ethel Kidd- that shopping list for murder just frightens me. Stack tone and delivery reading that note is creepy. Especially when he gets to the HC/SG/TP part.
11. NLO - Just thinking about the possibility that Dave Bochs died while alive makes me want to shiver.
12. Two Mary Murders- ( a case that is so controversial it is unmentionable on this board)
13. Clarence Roberts- so bizzare you'd think it was made up.
14. Doreen Picard/Susan Lafertye- fantasticly done production by UM. From the eerie music, the haunting visuals to the Bostonian accents.
15. The Wackers- a riddle wrapped in an enigma.
My top 15 Unexplained/UFOS/Ghosts
1. Roswell- really well done piece on the incident
2. Resurrection Mary- classic ghost tale!
3. Rainboy- the case is so ridiculous, yet frightening if it is real.
4. Ogopogo- One of the cases i best remember back from the 80s. Well done, if slightly skewed.
5. Oliver the Humanzee- still an interesting story, even though it;s been disproved
6. Men in Black-
7. Mystery Hum- This is one of those unexplained cases that you just can;t explain away. There is something happening to these people.
8. Oakville Blob- same as above.
9. Black Hope curse- this is one case where i cried when the daughter died suddenly. A very sad story.
10. Spontaneous Combustion- Like Rainboy, another case that is ridiculous, but if it is real, it's frightening in concept!!
11. El Chupucabra- good in that the story hasn;t been feautured that often on other mystery shows.
12. Mothman- IMHO, the best produced epsisode of UM. Scary and frightening to watch at night.
13. Allagash Abdctio0ns- UM really wanted to scare the crap out of viewers with those full up close sketchings and the haunting voice over of the victims.
14. Fatima Miracle- every time I want to try to explain it, i feel that it is best left unexplained and left as what it is: a miracle.
15. Frederick Valentich- one of those UFO cases that you just can't dispell right away.
MegtheEgg86 03-11-2009, 03:56 PM 7. Ayleen Conway- The scenes of her empty house with all the activities going on it scares me for some reason.
You're not alone. It freaks me out, too, especially with that eerie music and those curtains in an empty house, caught on the outside breeze.
14. Doreen Picard/Susan Lafertye- fantasticly done production by UM. From the eerie music, the haunting visuals to the Bostonian accents.
Agreed. Great production.
Tammy Lynn Leppert is not a mystery, but rather a planned vanishing act that included putting on some act to mislead and lie to people and an intentional promotion of doom and gloom as part of the intentional misdirection. The Unsolved Mysteries Segments are heavily influenced by this fabricated promotion direected by her mother/agent.
The police, by law, will respect a person, an adult of sound mind, desire to vanish. Perhaps by court order. Tammy did obtain evidence of sanity just prior to the vanishing act. And the police department and court were and are walking distance from the glass bank. There was a name change as well.
There have in fact been reports of others seeing and hearing from her since after she was reported missing, however, the police do not acknowledge these because they can't due to the restraints placed on them. She was with Keith even after she was reproted missing, so though Keith may or not have actually dropped her off where he claimed, he either picked her back up after she visited the police department or court house or somehow she managed to make it to Keiths house later.
There was no trouble at any Spring Break cast party. And all of what you see on teh segment is untrue. But it is amazing how it so easy to lead people off into lal la land of Hollywood babel.
Why would Tammy need evidence of sanity? Because it didn't seem sane for her to do this vanishing act. There are locked thread on this board that explain. And reality is that she is quite far from being a poor innocent missing girl.

TracyLynnS 03-26-2009, 05:45 PM You know, I've been watching UM since the beginning, and watching the reruns for years and years, yet I don't ever remember seeing L'enfant or the one where they dug tunnels under the banks. And for some reason, they're never on the places where we're not supposed to go, either...
synthisislab 03-26-2009, 07:17 PM You haven't seen L'enfant? Is there a transcription of that case anywhere on here? That one is unbelievable.
This Persian or Saudi? restauranteur basically gets kidnapped in the middle east, tortured, and degraded because he's accused of being a spy since many of his customers are westerners and Americans. He gets released somehow, I forget exactly how. He then moves to the states, in DC I believe or somewhere on the east coast. After which he receives thousands of prank calls with death threats circulating from many different areas according to phone records. Sometimes he can hear explosions and gunfire, other times it's middle easterners, and the other times it sounds like a child taunting him and threatening his family. Then there's a car bomb left under his jeep. He gets so frightened that he ends up checking himself into a psychiatric hospital where they try to prank call him some more. When he leaves the restaurant, his replacement gets similar death threats. His son on the way home from school gets accosted by two men and beaten. They never found out who did any of it either. It was an obvious conspiracy too with many perps involved.
The ATV storm drain tunnel robbers is a classic. I think the statute of limitations is up on that case, so the suspects can't even be tried anymore for that one even if they are ever identified and they got hundreds of thousands of dollars from those heists too.
TracyLynnS 03-26-2009, 10:08 PM Thanks for the info, synthisislab. From your description, I'm sure that I've never seen the L'enfant case. That one is weird and I definitely would have remembered seeing a such a bizarre segment. Is it one of the ones that they don't run very often?
synthisislab 03-27-2009, 12:22 AM Thanks for the info, synthisislab. From your description, I'm sure that I've never seen the L'enfant case. That one is weird and I definitely would have remembered seeing a such a bizarre segment. Is it one of the ones that they don't run very often?
I haven't seen it on the new UM at all and saw it the first time on Lifetime around 2006 right before they pulled the show from that station. Luckily I have it on one of those UM volume discs so I can watch it whenever.
TracyLynnS 03-27-2009, 09:18 AM I haven't seen it on the new UM at all and saw it the first time on Lifetime around 2006 right before they pulled the show from that station. Luckily I have it on one of those UM volume discs so I can watch it whenever.
That explains why I don't recall seeing it. I watched UM a lot when it was on lifetime, but I didn't make an effort to see every segment. I was homeschooling my kids back then and IIRC, UM came on lifetime around noon (est time). I watched part of it during our lunch break, but after that, it was time to get back to work.
Now that I'm "retired", I have more time to be obsessed with the show. lol
MysteryStacks 01-05-2010, 03:10 PM maybe this is an old thread, but here are some of my favs in no partcular order...
Frederick Valentich
Missing Time
David Stone
DB Cooper (one of my all time favorites and a great mystery!)
Blair Adams
Crystal Spencer
Christy Nichols (her husband is a liar! he murdered her!)
Jean Moore
Orange Sock Murders
The Boston Strangler
Son of Sam
Beverly McGowan
Burned Evidence (one of those 3 sus[ects did the crime!!)
Campus Murder
The Men in Black (when the woman tells her story and the reinactment "Men in Black" walks by her is one of the most chillin scenes EVER!)
The Bashir Gaby Kouchcji case- (the laugh on the phone is creepy!!!)
Phillip Breen (is if spelled his last name correctly)
David Maryfield
Dakotas Double Death Case (intriguing!)
Marie Hilley
Skull Duggery
Whistle Blown (i never get tired of this cover-up who-done it case)
Zodiac/Unabomber
Two Mary Murders
and the last one i forget the name (the man who was killed was found with a bulletproof vest and a 2 dollar bill that had drawn map in it and it was inside his underware)
ok so i gave a few more than 20!
MysteryStacks 01-05-2010, 03:14 PM forgot to add Kurt Sova case and the Flight 19 case as some of my favs also!
shanejm 01-10-2010, 03:36 AM Ok...first I want to say that I didn't watch much TV when I was crowing up so I did not get to see the series when it originolly aired and I tried to watch it on Spike but I ended up hating it's format so my only real experience of the show is through the box sets. so...my choices are all from the box sets.
1. Campus Calamity-
This is #1 because I knew Bryan through a friend. And believe me...there is no way it was suicide. There's just a lot of homophobia between the police and the school.
2. Two Mary Murders-
All I can think is how horrible their deaths were.
3. Australian UFO-
I find this case fascinating and sad because Frederick's father has passed away now and he never did know what happened to his son.
4. DB Cooper-
I think he died.
5. Whistle Blown-
Just the though of Bocks's death brings chills.
6. Boston Strangler-
I believe the woman who says many people did it.
7. Texas Most Wanted-
I have watched this episode once and only once. I have a hard time when Bell kill's Larry in front of his mother.
8. Scared to Death-
'cuz I honestly can't figure this one out.
9. Skull Duggery-
Personally I think the husband killed her when she got home and she was already dead when the daughter walked past her in the morning.
10. Backyard Bones-
The husband did it and the son was the voice who called the police.
11. Burning Bed-
I just hope Megan Curl was already dead when whomever it was stated the fire.
12. Burned Evidence-
I will believe to the day I die that Dixon did it.
13. Friends to the End-
Eerie as hell.
14. Hudson Valley UFO-
'Cuz I love the music.
15. The Blog-
I just like it and I love to say GELATINOUS GOO!
16. Electric Lady-
Don't know why...but I love playing this one over and over.
17. Psychic Detective-
Not because of the psychic...but I find Sherry Eyerly's kidnapping and death to be fascinating and horrible.
18. Silent Witness-
Because out of all of the psychics on the DVD's...I believe Nancy Myers the most.
19. Queen Mary Ghosts-
'Cuz it was genuinely scary.
20. Ghost Blimp-
Not really a ghost story but what the hell happened to those two guys? It's a good mystery.
If anyone knows of any places online to see some other episodes I'd gladly like any info as the DVD's are about all I have seen. Thanks
bryndis 01-24-2010, 08:20 PM 1.Martha Moxley (some reason my favourite case ever)
2.Richard Church (watching this segment at age of 11 made me not want to ever date!)
3.Adam Emery. This episode REALLY pissed me off and I found myself screaming at the television, just a shame how people with such stupidity are out there and willing to kill someone because you hit there car, (and that guy didn't even hit their car!) The sickest aspect of it all is the support Adam and his wife had from their families, it's almost nausating (actually it is) to hear someone support their family member's murderous actions.
I recall a family member of either Adam's or his wife's stating in an article "If he had stabbed the person who actually hit his car he would have been found innocent"
4.Texas Most Wanted (made me cry)
5. Jeffrey MacDonald
6.Grace Brown Case (really sad but I also love "A Place In The Sun" too)
7.Annette Burnside
8. The Devil's Den area of Texas (Defiantly NEVER going there)
9.Su Ya Kim (Husband's final words made me cry)
10. Ghost in Florida case. -This segment was quite sad too and actually one of the reasons I bought the Ghost DVD collection because I always really liked that case and it intruiged me.
11. Last but not least, I have a real emotional spot for Veitnam War cases, and all of the cases involving lost POW or MIA siblings in Vietnam, or the case where the man was looking to find the person in his unit who saved him are always some of my favourite cases to watch and the saddest.
