HOLLYWOOD - Britney Spears' estranged husband Kevin Federline has issued an apology to anyone who is offended by his upcoming Super Bowl ad where he stars as a fast-food worker.

Federline was slammed by members of the National Restaurant Association last week, who claimed the ad was insulting to fast-food workers.

The 28-year-old insists he never meant to disparage anyone, explaining, "The commercial is completely intended for me, making fun of myself and my own situation.

"It has nothing to do with anybody in the fast-food industry at all. So, you know, if we've offended anybody, I'm really sorry about that."

Federline appears in a 30-second spot for Nationwide Mutual Insurance where he is daydreaming about being a rap star while cooking French fries at a fast-food restaurant.

He adds, "It's a Saturday Night Live skit on myself. Maybe it'll land me some good roles in Hollywood!"

Why the heck should he apologize?

Why the heck should he apologize?

I guess he's trying to protect his image.

He wants to be seen as a no-talent freeloading deadbeat babyfather with a conscience..

I do agree that he really should not be apologising, if people in the fast food industry don't realize that it was in jest they need to get a life

I guess no matter what kind of so called "menial" job they put K-Fed in at the end of the commercial, someone would have complained.
It's really a no win situation.

LOS ANGELES, Feb 2 (Reuters Life!) - His marriage to pop star Britney Spears is on the rocks, his debut album opened to dismal sales and he's making TV commercials playing himself as a fast-food cook.

Now, as if to dispel any lingering doubt about where his showbiz career is headed, Taco Bell Corp. has invited Kevin Federline to work for an hour behind the counter at one of its restaurants.

The offer from the Mexican-themed fast-food chain came in a letter sent to Federline days before the rapper, also known as K-Fed, is due to appear in a Super Bowl television ad on Sunday playing a burger restaurant worker dreaming of stardom.

The National Restaurant Association, an industry trade group, last week blasted Federline's 30-second TV spot for Nationwide Insurance, saying the ad is an insult to fast-food employees and demanding that the commercial be dumped.

Nationwide has stood by its ad, and Federline has shrugged off the controversy, saying on Tuesday the commercial pokes fun at himself, not the restaurant industry.

Capitalizing on the ruckus, Taco Bell president Greg Creed wrote to Federline on Wednesday, inviting him to come to work at an unspecified outlet "just for a one-hour shift."

"We'll get you a uniform, a custom name tag and show you what a great place Taco Bell is to work," the letter said, quoting Federline as having said last year that his own kids would work someday at Taco Bell.

"It is a genuine offer," Taco Bell spokesman Rob Poetsch said on Friday, adding that the company has received no response from the singer-dancer. Federline's publicist was not immediately available for comment.

Spears, 25, filed for divorce from Federline, 28, last November. He debut album has since failed to make a dent in the pop charts, and a number of dates on his U.S. tour were canceled due to lack of interest.

Asked how much Taco Bell, a unit of Yum Brands Inc., might pay Federline for an hour of his time, Taco Bell spokesman Poetsch said, "We really haven't discussed money."

Why the heck should he apologize?
Maybe because if you look at the details:
K-Fed = trash
K-Fed = working in fast food
Therefore they are saying:
working in fast food = trash

Thank you, I'm sorry, but NO ONE aspries to be a fast food worker. It's not insulting at all and I don't think he should apologize for it. My god, people should lighten up..

Mark my words: Kevin Federline will wind up working for the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). During his recent stunt with them, he actually showed a great deal of respect for the business and did everything to indicate that he wanted to work his behind off to do the best he could in the short time he'd been with them. He ate with the wrestlers, and did everything to make sure he didn't step on anyone's toes. Plus, he has a natural talent for being a guy people love to hate, and would probably make a natural "manager" or other non-wrestling personality.

I thought the two had already divorced. I remember hearing on the Jim Rome Show not long ago he thought Britney would be P.O.-ed that K-Fed was doing a commercial during the Super Bowl.

I'm so sick and tired of people picking and choosing what they're going to get offended about. I see people like David Letterman, Jay Leno, and Jimmy Kimmel saying far worse things about people like Kevin Federline on a nightly basis, and nobody ever makes a big issue about that. There's nothing wrong with the commercial. Like he said, he was making fun of himself, and nobody else. I agree with those who have said that people are way too sensitive. Some things are worth getting offended over, but something as stupid as this, is not.

He should just apologize for being on television and offending us with his putrid, useless, leech existence.

If he wants to be seen he should be the poster boy for abstinence.
