Hi all, I'm new to these forums. I've been watching UM since it first aired when I was just a young boy. I used to watch it with my grandmother all the time. I'm looking forward to discussing cases with all of you here.

One thing I want to ask is, does anyone here know where I can get videos of the segments other than the DVD collections that have been released. I'll admit that it has been years since I've seen many segments and I would love to watch them again. I don't currently have Lifetime Real Women through my cable provider and that seems to be the only channel that is carrying UM at the current time. Any help in finding videos of UM segments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome!

You basically can persue one of two options on obtaining most of the segments not included on the dvds through this message board.

Option #1 - You can contact forum administrator "Crystaldawn" and ask to purchase one of her many "Best of Unsolved Mysteries" dvd volumes which collects some of the popular segments not available on the official dvds.

I think she is up to seven or eight volumes by now and only charges you basically for shipping.

Option #2 - You can join a "Unsurpassed Mysteries" video tree that I run when one is running (there isn't one running right now though) which collects only segments not included on the official dvd sets. While there is no charge at all to join this tree, you are expected to dub a copy of the video tape for yourself and send the master tape along to the next person on the tree.

---
The episodes found on "Unsurpassed Mysteries" are generally better quality than Crystaldawn's "Best Of's" but both are obviously passable. I would suggest that if you want to get copies asap that you contact Crystaldawn and I'm sure she'll make you a fair deal so you can get whatever volumes of the series you want.

One final note: Both "Unsurpassed Mysteries" and "Crystaldawn's Best Of Unsolved Mysteries" seem to focus on segments surrounding criminal activity (Fraud, Wanted, Unexplained Deaths, Missing Persons, Final Appeals) - There is very little to no "Love Loves", "UFOs" or "Ghosts" segments found on either series as most of these segments are of little or no interest to most of the members of this forum OR they were anthologized in detail on the official dvd sets.

Once again Welcome to the forums

Welcome champion.

With regards to where you can find videos of UM segments, i'm sure some people on here would gladly help you out  I'm in Australia, so I have "limited" access to UM, it doesn't help when your DVD player is region coded to only play Region 4 DVD's.

Any updates on Region 4 DVDs?

Welcome asmitty. I just joined the board last week and ordered the dvds from Crystaldawn ASAP. It's great re-living some of these segments that haunted my childhood.

I might know someone who can help you get those segments and I rate their quality 3 out of 4. Most in the board, are not willing to sell segments since they don't want to profit on murder or robbery victims. Those people are true to their word and I applaud them. THen again, not all segments are crime releated. But how funny is it when certain people refuse to sell; yet they themselves pay an outrageous sum for special items they want.

YouTube, downloading, Ebay, and selling UM are all pretty lame in my opinion.

People looking for individual stories/episodes are a dime a dozen. Unfortunately, I only know of one person who has an extensive collection of NBC episodes and most of the traded episodes I have in my collection are from him.

I'm guessing not a lot of people taped the show when it was originally on. I used to watch it all the time on NBC, but never thought I would have a desire to re-watch it on tape again years later. If I could turn back time...
