 That sounds great, Jack77! I certainly hope we get it released in time for the holidays - that'd be great for fans, and also great for sales!
By the by though - for those of us who already own the IDOJ Seasons 1 - 3 DVDs, will Sony be releasing DVDs of IDOJ Seasons 4 and 5 separately, as well as in the box set? The reunion specials sound great though - would be great if they could also be included in separately available DVD sets for Seasons 4 and 5 (some could be included in the Season 4 DVDs and the rest could be included in the Season 5 DVDs). Only reason I say this is because some more casual fans might, for example, want to buy either Season 4 or Season 5, but might not want to shell out the $$$ for Seasons 1 - 5. Also, since so many of us here already own the Season 1 - 3 DVDs, it seems a bit redundant to make us buy Seasons 1 - 3 again as part of the box set...
Not that I'm complaining - if the only way Sony wants to release the remaining two seasons of IDOJ is as part of the box set you describe, then that's great!!! - And I'll still buy the box set (even though I already have Seasons 1 - 3 on DVD) - just so I can get at the reunion specials and, of course, Seasons 4 and 5 of IDOJ! :D
ercjncpr 02-03-2007, 04:23 PM So if I have seasons 1,2 and 3, now I have to buy them all over again??(as part of the box set.) Sorry, I pass

Well, if you're willing to not own Seasons 4 and 5 of I Dream of Jeannie, in the case that Seasons 4 and 5 are only released as part of the box set, then you obviously are not a big enough I Dream of Jeannie fan! Any true fan would want to have the complete series on DVD. Even if it meant buying redundant material included with the box set. I know I would buy the box set if that was the only way I could own Seasons 4 and 5 of IDOJ on DVD.

Sorry, although I am indeed a Jeannie fan, I feel that my mission in life is not to give Sony Home Entertainment extra cash.

You do have a point, and I'm going to refrain from debating on this matter further since it's really irrelevant to the thread. However, I will point out a possible suggestion: you could always sell the copies of Season 1 - 3 DVDs you already own if you do get the box set.
Jack77 02-04-2007, 11:49 PM Subspace, I too was also going to suggest that to him and anyone else who have alreday bought Seasons 1-3 individually can just sell off their sets on either ebay or to Video/Game stores which buy old DVD's. There is still a strong possibilty that Sony will release Season 4 & 5 individually. And then if you are a huge & true Jeannie fan you will buy the box set that will include the extras. I will tell you this right now, the fans are going to be happy with the extras on the box set because there are going to be a couple of reunions on there that a lot of fans want! I for one will buy anything that comes with extras including interviews, commentaries from the cast, etc... I hope they do what Bewitched is doing for their box set & include a trip with Barbara back to the old Screen Gems Studios now called Sunset Gower Studios today. I know Barbara last year returned with Leonard Maltin of ET for the 40th anniversary. That would be great to see that on the extras as well as all the footage of Barbara & Larry on their first DVD tour when they went to New York to promote Season 1 on DVD. It would be great to see footage from the Barnes & Nobles DVD signing, behind the scenes from GMA, The Martha Stewart, The View & Access Hollywood as well as the Barbara & Larry Q&A from Access Hollywood. I would also like to see old NBC promos and bloopers, rare home movies from behind the scenes and the Hawaii episodes. There is so much that Sony can splash onto these extras, so lets hope someone at Sony that is working on these reads this & acts fast! STAY TUNED...
ClassicTVGal 02-05-2007, 10:39 PM That is AWESOME news!!! :D Thanks! Wonder if it'll have the B&W version of S1 or colorized version?? Guess we'll find out! This is great! Thanks!
munsters100 02-05-2007, 10:44 PM Are both of the movies comming too?
Scoobiedoo30 02-05-2007, 10:58 PM this is way Awsome News
Heidi Dawn 02-06-2007, 01:16 PM I already have seasons 1-3, so I hope seasons 4 & 5 are released individually.
Subspace 02-06-2007, 06:33 PM Alright guys, here's the scoop on this thread.
Well guys and gals, spoke with Sony and I am sorry to report with 100% certainty that this is completley bogus information. Off the record, there will be a season 4 and 5 season boxed set, but there is no Complete Series Boxed Set in the works and not likely to ever be one. The closest thing you may ever see is a repackaging of all five seasons sold as one set later in the future once all five seasons are on the market. That type of thing is done to regenerate sales interest.
So that's that. I think it's great that Season 4 and Season 5 will be released, and individually, that way IDOJ fans won't be forced to 're-buy' Seasons 1 - 3. It's too bad about the extras, but Patterson does go on to provide a lengthy explanation on how complicated and costly it can be to get extras/bloopers on DVD. But the most important thing, after all, is getting the entire series on DVD. As long as we get that - and we will - I have nothing to complain about.
CTLucyfan 02-09-2007, 08:46 PM They are doing the same thing to Bewitched (seasons 1-4 of that show have been released of the eight season total). Speculation is that if you want the rest of the unreleases seasons (5-8 for Bewitched or 4-5 of Jeannie, you will have to anti up the money for the whole sets. :(

Well I can't say about the speculation for Bewitched but as I posted above, for I Dream of Jeannie, it's fact that Seasons 4 and 5 will be released individually. A box set of the complete series may be released later, as a promotional/marketing gimmick, but it certainly wouldn't be the only thing released.

Jack77 02-14-2007, 07:48 AM I don't know where or who Patterson got his info from, but after Season 4 & 5 are released, Sony is going to release I Dream Of Jeannie: The Complete Series as a Box Set and will include a few extras. They are even thinking of expanding the Complete series to Blue-Ray & HD-DVD. Sorry but it's already been approved a few weeks ago by Sony marketing & is a done deal. If Patterson did contact someone at Sony, they are not at liberty to tell him what's in the works. There doing the same thing with Bewitched. Sony started to take notice about doing box sets on complete series after seeing the great sales for another 60's series... Get Smart Complete series on DVD with all the extras/etc. Also Paramount has started this trend too with now releasing The Andy Griffith Show & The Brady Bunch Complete Series on DVD and adding new extras/reunions/etc. Furthermore, Sony does not mind adding extras on their TV shows sets. One example is that they are releasing the first season of One Day At A Time & including the One Day At A Time Reunion Special. Finally, Sony began production last week on The Bewitched Special Features section for their upcoming DVD Complete Series Box set last week in Burbank. Just be paitent, this is going to happen & Stay Tuned for more information soon...

Alright Jack, I have to hand it to you. You've really stirred up a lot of people with these posts but one thing I can't stand is building people's hopes up for nothing.
I'll say it here, as I have on my forum at www.idreamofjeannie.com there are NO plans for a complete series boxed set for I Dream of Jeannie. You claim that whoever I may be talking to may not be able to give me the information you have. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but I was (and I still am) the cartoonist, episode synopsis writer and one of the main consultants for the 3rd Season DVD Boxed Set packaging. Which means I drew all the cartoon elements on the box, wrote the episode lists on the backs of the slimline DVD's and provided photographic elements that appear on the packaging. My contacts are the people who make the (final) decisions. I am privy to all the information on the DVD's, past present and future. So when I tell you, there is no complete series DVD set, you can trust me on that.
Now you may truly think you're giving accurate information, whoever you are talking to could be lying to you and you're believing them. But the fact is, my contacts all confirm this to be false.
I have to comment directly on one more thing here. You state "Sony does not mind adding extras on their TV show sets."
You clearly are not in contact with anyone at Sony because if you were, you would see how totally wrong you are with that statement. How do I know? One of my biggest pushes for season 3 was ANY kind of extra materials. Photo gallery, trivia section. I wanted to have SOMETHING, ANYTHING extra added to boost interest. The fact is different divisions of Sony create the different elements for a DVD set when it goes into preproduction. A group of designers work on the packaging, a group of designers work on the DVD interactive menus, a group of tech's work on the actual episodes/movies themselves. If you'll notice, Sony has not commissioned a new menu since Season 1. This is because the menu functionality works fine. Regardless of the continuity (1st season bottle artwork on 2nd and 3rd season DVDs) they aren't going to pay that team to redesign it. In their opinion, it's not broken... so why fix it? To put extras on the DVD's would cost even MORE. I've explained all this on my forums so feel free to come over and check that out.
My advise to anyone else here is to just watch as the months progress, on and on. I can scream that I'm right, and Jack is wrong. But the only way to confirm that is by waiting and watching. When the Spring and Summer arrive, when Fall and Winter pass and 2007 comes and goes, along with 2008 and so forth... with no complete series boxed set you'll know I was right.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a full series boxed set full of extras and fun stuff. But the chances of that happening are... vetch in vetch-natchy.
Patterson

Robert 13 02-15-2007, 04:07 PM Hey, thanks for all that info Patterson! I never knew how it all happened but you gave a good rundown of the production process. It was interesting to read how it comes together for the final set. Anyhow, I hope to see the 2 movies on the final set...or maybe as an extra set of Jeannie movies on one dvd like Universal did with The Munsters. Great artwork on the 3rd season set, by the way. I love the sand on the beach with the bottle for the front. :)
ercjncpr 02-16-2007, 12:48 AM Well, that's what eBay's for. LOL!
Same goes for Ebay
ercjncpr 02-16-2007, 01:26 AM I don't know where or who Patterson got his info from, but after Season 4 & 5 are released, Sony is going to release I Dream Of Jeannie: The Complete Series as a Box Set and will include a few extras. But at least 4 and 5 will be individually distributed. That is good news.
faraj 02-16-2007, 02:06 AM But at least 4 and 5 will be individually distributed. That is good news.
Yep, that's the important thing. A complete series wouldn't be necessary unless they have the extras like the 2 reunion movies.
Jack77 02-16-2007, 02:16 AM Hello Patterson & welcome to the board. I do not doubt that you some how contributed to the 3rd Season Of I Dream Of Jeannie on DVD. But your involvement stops there. Did it ever occur to you that the marketing executives that sit in on these type of meetings & give the green light do not want you or anyone else to know anything about their upcoming plans for their own reasons? Maybe they do not want to work with you on the next project? Who knows? All I know is you are not the only one who has inside contacts with Sony. Are you also going to say that Sony is being cheap and is not releasing a Bewitched Complete DVD Series also? So I will say it on here again, that YES, they are in fact going to release a COMPLETE I DREAM OF JEANNIE SERIES ON DVD. What the date is, I don't know, but it will happen.
Erin Murphy who played Tabitha on Bewitched has already made the official announcement on her blog as well as at HarpiesBizzare.com that she is working on the Bewitched Complete Series DVD which she is filming new extras, one of them being at the warner ranch where both the Bewitched & Jeannie home are located at.
It would be kind of dumb & not make sense at all that Sony would redo the Bewitched Series on DVD with just Erin Murphy & not do something with I Dream Of Jeannie when the three principals are still alive. And another thing that Sony is considering is putting the two Reunion films on this new Jeannie set as well as the 1999 reunion on The Donny & Marie Show which by the way are all Sony owned.
I too am not here to argue or make things up and give false hope, but when you look at what Bewitched, Get Smart, The Brady Bunch & The Andy Griffith Show are being packaged as? What does that lead you to believe? Just remember Patterson, as Barbara Eden says.."Dreams Do Come True."
This will happen and when it does whether it be this year or next year, I tell you what the loser can buy the winner an I Dream Of Jeannie gift. So since you are Patterson, I will take a FREE PAINTED JEANNIE BOTTLE!
IDoJOnline 02-16-2007, 09:58 AM Hello Patterson & welcome to the board. I do not doubt that you some how contributed to the 3rd Season Of I Dream Of Jeannie on DVD.
Cute, however there isn't half of an inch of the entire packaging of Season 3 that you can look at and not see some of my 'contributions'. Acutally contributions suggest volunteering, or dontations. None of which I did. I did work and was paid well for it.
But your involvement stops there.
How little you know sir is completely embodied by that comment. I guess your as sure of this, as you are about the complete series dvd set... which speaks volumes of exactly what you do and do not know.
Did it ever occur to you that the marketing executives that sit in on these type of meetings & give the green light do not want you or anyone else to know anything about their upcoming plans for their own reasons?
Not likely, considering I'm very well aware of a number of projects in the works. They just don't tie into the rumor you've been spreading here.
Maybe they do not want to work with you on the next project?
Sure, because I'm already on for two other ones for I Dream of Jeannie? Try again.
Who knows?
Well, you seem to think you do.
All I know is you are not the only one who has inside contacts with Sony.
Never said I was. What I said was that you're distributing false information.
Are you also going to say that Sony is being cheap and is not releasing a Bewitched Complete DVD Series also?
I don't deal with Bewitched, I do know that they are working some bonus features for an upcoming release. Besides, that no clue there. I don't pretend to know things on subjects I know nothing about. Unlike some people.
So I will say it on here again, that YES, they are in fact going to release a COMPLETE I DREAM OF JEANNIE SERIES ON DVD. What the date is, I don't know, but it will happen.
Not anytime in the near future.
And even Erin has admitted she is unsure if it's just a season boxed set, or the full series. So there begin another set of asumptions on the fans part.
It would be kind of dumb & not make sense at all that Sony would redo the Bewitched Series on DVD with just Erin Murphy & not do something with I Dream Of Jeannie when the three principals are still alive.
I won't argue that, it would be silly not to do something for Jeannie as well. You seem to be interpreting my messages as my not wanting this to happen. I'm not saying I don't want it to, I'm saying that it's not.
And another thing that Sony is considering is putting the two Reunion films on this new Jeannie set as well as the 1999 reunion on The Donny & Marie Show which by the way are all Sony owned.
Well of course Sony owns anything I Dream of Jeannie related, and Sony owned the Donny & Marie Show, they even mentioned that when they did the reunion.
I too am not here to argue or make things up and give false hope, but when you look at what Bewitched, Get Smart, The Brady Bunch & The Andy Griffith Show are being packaged as? What does that lead you to believe?
It leads me to believe that other shows receive more and often better treatment than I Dream of Jeannie. It also leads me to expect fans like yourself to dream up these things in hopes that it will come true.
Just remember Patterson, as Barbara Eden says.."Dreams Do Come True."
She says that? Sorry I wouldn't know, I don't live my life guided by quotes from Barbara Eden.
This will happen and when it does whether it be this year or next year, I tell you what the loser can buy the winner an I Dream Of Jeannie gift. So since you are Patterson, I will take a FREE PAINTED JEANNIE BOTTLE!
Well you struck out there buddy. I don't paint Jeannie bottles anymore. How about I just let you know when I'm commissioned for work on this set, whenever that actually happens. Until then, why not just let this rest so you don't get people worked up? After all, as you just suggested, this may take two years to happen, which would be long after seasons 4 and 5 are released to DVD.

Jack77 02-16-2007, 11:44 PM Fair enough. Let's just wait this out and sooner or later, I will post on this topic to say... "I told you so!"
Ok moving on... Since you claim to be employed by Sony, how about getting us a direct answer then on what the heck they intend to do about all the problems that came with this season 3 set? I spent $34.00 on this set and I am not happy with the defects & false advertising!
Please call your contacts & find out if there has already been a recall & are they working on new sets to be released when???
Thanks!

Patterson and Jack,
It really sounds like "time out" time for you two supposed adults! And please no more speculation on here, I only want to see facts. And I am quite sure that other fans do as well.
Jack77 02-17-2007, 04:24 AM ercjncpr just be paitent!!!
This will become a fact sooner or later.
Once season 4 & 5 have come out, then whether IDOJ is packaged with all 5 seperate seasons included with a bonus disk of extras or whether it's packaged as one box set with all disks from every seaons plus extras, it is still considered "THE COMPLETE SERIES ON DVD".
I think that Patterson was just annoyed that he was not able to make the announcement first on his own web-site & wanted to complicate things on here. But I am moving on about this subject and will only reply & post back when there is more news...
IDoJOnline 02-17-2007, 11:20 AM I think that Patterson was just annoyed that he was not able to make the announcement first on his own web-site & wanted to complicate things on here.
There you go assuming again. Before I make any announcements I make sure they are factual. Otherwise I might come across looking like an instigator, or just a big fat liar.
Let me remind you (jack) and everyone else. I Dream of Jeannie isn't my life, like it would appear to be some of yours. Enough said.

Well first of all, the username is a simple refrence to one of my websites. Secondly, it's more than a claim, it's a fact that I've worked with Sony. Thirdly, I Dream of Jeannie actually isn't my life. I am a graphic designer and I also do web design and streaming media as well as flash authoring. My I Dream of Jeannie site is just one example of the type of work I do.
Finally, there are a great many people who can tell you for fact that Jeannie is very very minor in my life. If anything takes up a great deal of time it is my work with Cassandra Peterson... Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
Seems to me you're trying to start a fight. So to insure that the people of this forum don't have to deal with your personal issues, I'll bow out at this post. Have fun!

Patterson, you are one who just joined this forum a few days ago to create problems. Just reading all of your posts suggests you being angry & jealous at the simple fact that the series being released as a complete set was first posted here & not on your own IDOJ web site. Well what can I say? I like this site better.
And if anyone has personal issues, it is you. You claim to be working for Sony, well I don't think they would want you coming on here & representing them like a raving fool. You should try to be more professional. But then again I really doubt someone like you would have anything to do with Sony or for that matter ever worked on the IDOJ DVD set to begin with.
Say hello to Cassandra Peterson... Elvira, Mistress of the Dark for us!
