I believe before UM had the betty cash and gulf breeze ufo segments it was featured on WPIX's "UFO the Unsolved Mystery" show in about late 87 or 88. It was a 90 minute documentry that talked about Ufo's around the world. It is possible that the UM staff borrowed from that doc. They also were probably inspired by the late 1970's doc called "Ufo's are Real." The show used very scary music like UM did. Mike Farrell would have a great host for UM.

I think you missed the obvious reason Kane objected so strongly to Mike Farrell.

It had nothing to do with acting ability, or how he handled previous similar assignments.

Here, I'll nominate Fred Thompson. I'm sure he would have been absolutely fantastic.

Trust me, I know what you are talking about. Farrell is a major liberal activist. But don't know if Kane would just simply hate a guy for that. Maybe he just thinks the guy is not right for the show.

I don't hate people just because of their personal or political positions. But I have a good reason for my belief that Mike Farrell would not have been compatible with Unsolved Mysteries.

Mike Farrell is a blind supporter of Mumia Abu-Jamal, who is on death row for the 1981 murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. While Farrell certainly has a right to defend condemned murderers, the fact that he supports a glorified cop-killer would most likely make him an unappealing (and controversial) choice. Since Unsolved Mysteries is an anti-crime show, and is very popular with the law enforcement crowd, the idea of someone like Mike Farrell hosting such a series would not sit well with a lot of cops.

If UM came back with that pinhead as a host........Cosgrove & Meurer could kiss their credibility (and possibly their careers) goodbye.

Bringing Farrell onboard would be just the same as inviting Danny Glover to become the host......after all, Glover is another cop-killer advocate (Edward Pointdexter & David Rice/"Mondo We Langa")
