What are yours? When my family was living in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, we went sledding sometimes at a golf course in Willoughby Hills. There was a small hill at the golf course's west end that sloped down to the edge of a drainage ditch, and there was another hill that had a lift on it.
Then there was the hill behind Squire's Castle in Willoughby Hills, in Cleveland Metropark's North Chagrin Reservation. Here are two pics of the hill.

We also went to the toboggan hill in Cleveland Metropark's reservation in Strongsville, Ohio.
Going to my Grandparents house and they would make us Jiffy Pop popcorn
and hot chocolate in the wintertime and sit by their woodstove and my grand-dad would tell us stories about his childhood. I really miss them.

When I was little(1950's) my mom , my sisters and I used to play "Fox and Geese". It was a chasing game. We would make a round path in the snow and we would each have our own "house". Whoever was the fox would stand in the middle and as we tried to escape back to our houses the fox would chase us. This is all very sketchy as I was so young. Is anybody(baby boomers) familiar with this game? I'll have to ask my mom how to play it. She grew up in the 30's and 40's and she played the game then. So it is a very old game.

My friends and I used to make houses out of snow with beds and tables and chairs all made out of snow. It was sweet, we did it every year.

I miss winter time as a kid...it was so much fun back then (1982-1992, I'd say). I have memories of a HUGE blizzard when I was a kid and the snow was just piled everywhere. Everything seemed bigger and more magical back then.
I remember putting on Freezy Freakies (remember those color-changing gloves from the 80's?) and heading outside with my brothers to build snowmen. We used to go sleigh riding down my neighbors' hill too (all the kids down the block did...she didn't mind it). My Mom always had hot chocolate waiting for us when we got in.
Good times :)

I loved Winter time in the 80s...
We often went to my cousins house and they had an abandoned barn back in the woods... I loved going in and exploring it!
Some of it still smelled like Chickens or whatever they had in it many years before...

Ya remember how beautiful things were then!!
Thank you for sharing that :)
My childhood winter memories in Chicago are of my mom dressing me up like Randy Parker in A Christmas Story. I played hockey on a frozen pond. My brother and I would build snow forts.

So cute! :)
I remember as a kid when the snow was really coming down, we would be so excited praying that school would be closed the next day. And my Mom telling us to calm down and get to bed in case school was still on. Next morning Mom put the radio on , that's where they announced the school closings back than And when it came on if it was indeed closed, you could hear us cheering a mile away! But if it wasn't closed it was another story! :(
