11:00PM 173 - Friends and Lovers (Part 1) Jack thinks Vicky wants to take a job in Houston and encourages her, causing Vicky to think he wants to end their relationship. Vicky interrupts Janet's wedding to find out why. They make up and the ceremony resumes. Jack proposes and is stunned by Vicky's refusal.

so 227 Benson Cheers Wings Night Court and Highway to Heave Contract will Expire

It said on the news blog that TV Land has released the contracts to "Benson" and "227" in exchange for "Addams" and "Munsters" with the Program Exchange. I don't think the contracts to the other shows have expired

I'm liking the trend towards older shows but a little more variety would be nice! I'm not gonna complain too much though because I like the way TV Land is going

No, Benson and 227 are gone and will not return. They have canceled the contracts for them. They exchanged them with Addams and Munsters, both Program Exchange shows, as are 227 and Benson. Cheers, Wings, Night Court, and HTH are sitting for now.

Way too much Bonanza and Gunsmoke on weekends ohno: Good to see Addams Family and Munsters back It sucks that Benson and Cheers are gone. Cheers used to be TV's #1 show, why isn't TVLand airing it? They could easily cut out an hour of Gunsmoke and air Cheers from 9:00-10:00 AM. Gunsmoke would still be on three times a day and a million times on weekends. :rolleyes: I hope Benson gets picked up by another station, maybe ION?

As a fan of all those shows that they're getting rid of, I think this is horrible. Tvland's officially worse than nick at nite now, completely ratings driven. If anything's not a huge hit, it's off the schedule. I personally find it amazing that those westerns are more popular than all those shows. What a boring weekend schedule. Who needs all those westerns? I'm sure even the fans of those shows don't want to watch them that much.

Nice changes...I would be surprised to see more 80s/modern shows [sitcoms at least] be brought in anytime soon with the ones they have (Wings, Cheers, Night Court, 227, Benson, H2H) not even making it on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Not to mention Murphy Brown.

It would have been nice if they had done some sort of launch for The Munsters and The Addams Family, and a nice prime-time slot...they just had a Munsters marathon though. I didn't think The Addams Family would air in prime-time, given that it had a very poor run on TV Land the last time.

They definately seem to be going in a better direction than last year.

Interesting stuff! I do hate how they have dumped a lot of great shows and had to rely on a lot of old-fashioned country shows like Andy Griffith and Gunsmoke. They can't possibly get good demos with those shows! Thankfully they now have M*A*S*H. As for Benson, hopefully it will go to dvd soon since I'd rather watch most shows that way than on cable with edits and network snipes filling up the screen. If they continue to let go of quality shows like Cheers or even shows like Benson where you can't see them anywhere else, they are going to push people to dvds and ipods. I'd rather see rare library shows even in "safe" time periods on Saturday mornings than the billionth rerun of an "evergreen."

Could they exchange Night Court for something else? It runs until 2010 and has done very badly on TV Land. I'd imagine they spent a lot of money to get it, too. How long did it last on the regular schedule, 8 or 9 months in the wee hours most of the time? Three years left to go for a show that (according to TheLink) doesn't even meet weekend morning ratings requirements...wouldn't be surprised if they attempt it.

I know they are Program Exchange shows. That's why I was surprised they could exchange them for Sony shows. PE is a separate company.

I don't think they could do the same with a Warners show (Night Court). It's a shame. There are good shows that should have a home but really don't generate interest that translate into ratings. Maybe that's the benefit of downloading and dvds that make them accessible. I like the show but don't watch it regularly. It was good to know there was a place I could find it and tivo, though.

Program Exchange is the easiest to swap contracts...because distributors like Sony, Universal, etc lease PE the shows for a certain time. And it is very cheap for networks to buy them. Munsters, Addams Family, 227 and Benson were all leased by PE. Munsters is Universal, Addams is MGM, 227 and Benson are Sony, but all were leased to PE for cable distribution for a certain time.

Night Court is Warner Bros., so I doubt they can "swap" a show for it. They'll have to obey the contract. Same for Murphy.

TV Land needs a digital channel to run shows where they don't have to worry about the ratings. Although that is often short-lived as VH1 Classic has shifted a bit from running videos and have more commercials. Holy crap, they're airing the three "controversial"/banned episodes of TC back-to-back-to-back! That would have been crazy talk a good four or five years ago!

I am glad I taped 227 from TVOne back when they aired it as they were all uncut episodes. Sadly TVLand did not give 227 a chance IMHO and they did not give Benson much more of a chance. TAGS must be doing well for them. I like the show and have all 8 seasons on dvd now which makes watching it on tv redundant. There seems to be no hurry to release more of 227 on dvd which again makes me glad I taped it. Having not tuned in to TVLand for several months I can see I am not missing anything.

For me the worst was when they actually put on a mockumentary of the Half-Pints. That is when I knew the programmers had lost their marbles. They are just too cheap to buy more good decent shows.

You hit the nail on the head. Those are precisely the reasons I no longer watch anything except channels like History, Biography, Discovery and movie channels like Encore and Turner Classic Movies. So out of 180+ channels I watch about 6. :rolleyes:

TV Land has edited the March changes. They have removed I Love Lucy from weekdays, but will give it a two-hour block on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Green Acres has been cut to just 5am every morning. The Munsters will now air back-to-back at 11am weekdays, and weekends at 9am. Leave it to Beaver gets the 10am weekday hour and weekends 8:30am. The Addams Family will still air weekdays at noon and now weekends at 9:30am. Here are the changes:

It's disappointing that they aren't doing Addams 2x at noon, but at least it's airing. And more Beaver! Can't go wrong with that. March just can't come fast enough.

Let me start by saying that I am rather pleased with the line-up changes on TV Land. The shows they are dropping are not really classics anyway, BUT I think the folks at TV Land need to stop making so many schedule changes. It seems they are shaking things up every other week now. It is a sure fire way to lose an audience (just ask the major networks!) However, TV Land is suppose to be the place for classics and I believe that I LOVE LUCY THE MUNSTERS and THE ADDAMS FAMILY fit that bill than BENSON WINGS & 227.

I am glad to see Sitcoms in the 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm Central Time Slot

I can't believe that The Jeffersons is only airing at 7:30 in the morning! It was such a great show, so why can't it find an audience at TVLand! I really enjoy watching this show, and wo9uld much rather enjoy it than Sanford and Son.

As much as I love Three's Company, I am not going to enjoy watching it at 11 and 11:30. I own all the seasons, all the episodes, so what's the point of watching the edited versions when I can watch the unedited version of th esame episode?

This will be a three week thing now. Cosby marathon on March 11, 18 and 25 from 11pm-1am.

I do not like the direction TV Land is going. First they get rid of Benson and 227 (last airings this weekend)- making the only 80s sitcoms they have- Cheers and Night Court (which are off the line-up). Now Miami Vice and The A-Team are also going off the line-up- making these occasional Cosby Show marathons the only 80s show airings on the network.

Now they are minimizing the 70s greatly. They have 8 70s sitcoms under contract and are really only going to be airing 3 of them- M*A*S*H, Sanford and Son, and Three's Company. Good Times at 4:30am and The Jeffersons at 7:30am hardly counts. All in The Family, The Brady Bunch, and What's Happening!! are all going to be off the line-up.

I think they are overdoing the return of The Munsters/Addams Family a little too much. I was glad to see Addams returning as I was really starting to enjoy it right before it left. The Munsters, I could do without. I think it needs a longer break than 4 months.

I'm not going to be that upset about those shows returning- it's just a shame that some of the best written and most funny shows of all time such as Cheers and All in The Family are not even on the line-up.

And I thought Good Times was a big hit for TV Land and they're bringing it back at 4:30am? Would it be safe to assume that there is a high chance that it and All in The Family will not be renewed later this year.

I know TheLink at TV Land said GT was not being renewed a couple months ago but a few weeks ago he claimed a decision would be made after that mini-marathon.

Are these changes supposed to carry over in to April? Knowing TVL, it'll probably change before then, who knows. They just can't make up their minds.

Yeah, TV Land's become pathetic, taking off most of their best shows. That's too bad about Miami Vice, ATeam and All in the Family too. So many great shows gone in March. Strange how they can't get enough of an audience for their more recent shows, guess younger people usually don't watch the channel.

It seems like the schedule might have changed a bit, accorning to the TVLand message boards. It looks like instead of the minimarathons, The Cosby Show will now be airing every Sunday at 11 and 11:30, instead of Three's Company, plus at 12a and 12:30a. Instead of calling it a minimarathon, it is a regular thing. Also on Sundays, MASH runs at 1a and 1:30a instead of The Andy Griffith Show, which is now at 2:30a every Sunday. Three's Company is at 3:30a every day, and is at 3:00a on Wednesday, plus 4:00a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. Good Times is 4a every Friday, plus 4:30 weekdays.

It's very confusing. There are way too many westerns, and The Munsters is on like 5 times a day, which is two many. Also, I Love Lucy is on quite often for being rated very low.

I knew once they started squeezing in those extra commercials starting at 10:00pm they would NEVER go back. These rotten stations will do anything for more stupid commercials. Thank God I don't waste my time with this network anymore. I just remember the good times when it was a great network with unedited shows and only retromercials airing. But like all good things (N@N and GSN come to mind) it came to an end.

4:30PM 163 - The Charming Stranger The girls flip over a handsome Englishman who moves in next door, but Jack and Furley become convinced that he is one of London's most sought after criminals.
5:00PM 170 - Forget Me Not Jack borrows Janet's new car to drive a gorgeous model to a photo session and totals the car on the way home. He pretends to have amnesia in the hospital, but Janet gets suspicious and concocts a plan to help him regain his memory.
5:30PM 169 - Jack Takes Off Jack offers to model for a beautiful art teacher and finds himself nude in front of her classroom when Furley walks in. Jack begs Furley not to tell, but the secret is out when a nude portrait of Jack appears at the Regal Beagle.
6:00PM 171 - The Heiress A customer of the flower shop names Janet in his will, and she receives a vase. His nephew, Philip, an art collector, visits Janet, and Jack thinks he lied about the value of the vase and is trying to get it back.
6:30PM 172 - Cupid Works Overtime Jack meets an attractive stewardess, Vicky Bradford; but between her father and her dates, she doesn't seem to have time for Jack. Janet announces her engagement to Philip, while Jack is jealous and lovesick.
7:00PM 173 - Friends and Lovers (Part 1) Jack thinks Vicky wants to take a job in Houston and encourages her, causing Vicky to think he wants to end their relationship. Vicky interrupts Janet's wedding to find out why. They make up and the ceremony resumes. Jack proposes and is stunned by Vicky's refusal.
7:30PM 174 - Friends and Lovers (Part 2) Vicky explains that she is afraid of marriage and suggests to Jack that they live together. Jack reluctantly agrees. They are toasting their first night together in their new apartment when they are interrupted by Mr. Bradford, who makes a startling announcement.

TV Land Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Three's Company with a 24-Hour Marathon Beginning Saturday, March 17

NEW YORK, March 12 -- TV Land celebrates the comedic misadventures of the zaniest roommates on television -- Jack, Janet and Chrissy -- with a 24-hour marathon saluting the 30th Anniversary of the Emmy Award-winning series Three's Company beginning Saturday, March 17, at 8:00pm (all times ET/PT). Tune in to relive some of television's most hilarious and madcap episodes including a retrospective show hosted by Lucille Ball, the pilot episode recounting how it all started and the series finale. TV Land will also showcase episodes from the hit series' spin-offs, The Ropers and Three's a Crowd.

Fans can log on to tvland.com beginning Friday, March 9 through Friday, March 30 to register to win a Three's Company DVD box set containing all the episodes from season eight, as well as "bloopers" and "featurettes:" "The Best of Jack, Janet, Terri, Larry and Furley," "John Ritter: Working with the Master" and "Usted Habla Three's Company?"

Three's Company aired on ABC and remained a top-ten show through its seven-year run from 1977-1984. It follows the lives of three roommates:
Janet Wood (Joyce DeWitt), a young, single woman who works as a florist; Chrissy Snow (Suzanne Somers), a bubbly, blonde typist; and Jack Tripper (John Ritter), a student studying to be a chef. At first, their landlords -- Stanley (Norman Fell) and Helen (Audra Lindley) Roper -- are against the threesome sharing their apartment until Jack tricks them into thinking he's gay. The Ropers would eventually spin-off into their own show in 1979, aptly titled The Ropers, as they adventure out of the apartment complex to a townhouse in an upscale neighborhood of Cheviot Hills. It is then that Mr. Ralph Furley (Don Knotts) takes over as the owner of the not-so-swinging single's apartment. As Crissy leaves, Cindy Snow (Jenilee Harrison), her cousin moves in with Jack and Janet and later, Terri Alden (Priscilla Barnes), replaces Cindy as the third roommate. At the end of the series, Jack received his own spin-off, Three's a Crowd, and moves in with girlfriend Vicky Bradford (Mary Cadorette) a flight attendant.

I knew it was taking effect for this coming week (April 2nd), but, had not been notified of any change for this week. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to get that information out before the change took effect.
