View Full Version : My favorite Britcom is The Black Adder!
Purple Velvet Bohemian 02-16-2001, 09:30 PM Does anyone else like it? It is actually a number of series that are connected through Edmond Blackadder. He is the main character is each series, in the first series he is a medeival prince, the second he is a Lord in the court of Queen Elizabeth I, the third he's the personal servant to Prince George in the 1700's, and the last he is a soldier in World War I. All of the characters are supposed to be decendants of the orginal character who is the prince in the first series. I love this show, and it is my favorite Britcom by far! It stars Rowan Atkinson ( he plays Mr. Bean) as Blackadder, and it also starred people like Hugh Laurie, and Stephen Fry, Miranda Richardson, so you know it's good!

japfles 05-10-2001, 04:36 AM The 'Blackadder' series was fantastic.
The best series, arguably, was the second one set in Elizabethan times.
The writing throughout the 2nd, 3rd and 4th series was almost flawless.
Did you manage to get to see 'Blackadder Back & Forth'? It was a one-off special originally shown in the Millennium Dome in London and then was broadcast by Sky in the UK last year.

Black Adder was the best of its type Edmund Black adder was such an unrepentant worm who wouldn't love him.
Rowan Atkinson and the whole cast and the recurring visits by some of the best British comedians made the show (all four series) one of the best.
Mossopp 08-05-2001, 07:23 AM I liked the second series. Did any of you ever seen that episode where Edmund thought he was gay and he went to that doctor to get 'cured'? That was so funny!!

If you get the chance pick up "Blackadder - The Whole Damn Dynasty," the complete scripts of all four series.
I was wondering if Blackadder back and forth is available on VHS or DVD. ANyone have any ideas?
To answer my own question from a previous post;
I picked up Blackadder - Back And Forth on DVD today.
It's awsome!

Presumably a region 1 release?
Did it have Blackadder - The Cavalier Years as a bonus and also Baldrick's Video Diary?
The Back and Forth DVD does have Baldric's diary.
"The Cavalier Years" wasn't included with the package.
I do have that episode on the Black Adder VHS Box set.

The first time I saw this ep, I didn't realise it was Tom Baker until I saw his name on the end credits. But he was brilliant!
Unfortunately he makes no mention of this appearance whatsoever in his autobiography ("Who On Earth Is Tom Baker", HarperCollins, 1997).
