Was it just me, or was the movie Bean, a major drop-off from the TV series???

By "drop-off" do you mean that you thought the movie sucked? Personally, I thought the movie was better than the TV series.

The series is much better than the movie. Mr. Bean rarely talks in the show, that's one of the things that makes it funny. The only time I heard him talk on the show is when he says his name "Bean". And the episode where he tries to make a sandwich in the park. He uses his credit card to spread on mayonaise "My flexible friend". And in the show, he usually does much dumber stuff which makes it funny. I have to admit, my mind was blown when I found out that they were making a Mr. Bean movie, but I wasn't too satisfied leaving the theater.

the Bean movie did not(in my opinion) actually suck badly, but it was not as good or anywhere as good as the series. They gave it a plot for gods sake, the best part of the series, the spontenaity, was lost.

20 minutes of Mr Bean-GOOD.
90 minutes of Mr Bean-DISASTER. (the movie was still hilarious though, just not as entertaining as the series)

I didn't really like it. Two things that annoyed me about it were:

1. Mr Bean talking (as someone posted before, his lack of speech provides alot of the homour.

2.THE AMERICANIZATION (no offence to any Americans) but I thought it ruined it. Plus the rest of the cast. Usually, in the Mr Bean episodes, the extras are simply there to be posh and look down on Mr Bean, yet be very interested in what he's doing or trying to get on with what they're doing by just ignoring whatever it is he is doing. Yet the whole movie seemed to revolve around the guy from Ally McBeal and the effect Mr Bean had on their family. Mr Bean in an American TV family, doesn't work.

Non taken.

I hated that unfunny movie. the tv show is 100 times better than the movie.

I hoped Fox network don't ruin EASTENDERS for me, like NBC ruined Coupling.

I watched Bean again recently and to my surprise I laughed alot more. There were some funny bits like when Mr Bean shoved a turkey into a microwave and thought he really could turn 4 hours cooking time into 10 minutes
