Does anyone think The Price Is Right will sink in the ratings when the new host takes over, who ever it is, and get canceled soon after? Or do you think it will still maintain the ratings?

I give it a yr and if viewership drops,i say it goes or they try a new host again

Price is such a money maker for Cbs, they have to try & keep it rolling & they are going to do just that. Will the ratings drop?? I think it is inevitable that they will, but the question is how much will they drop. The new Season of the price is right begins in mid september & i have it on good authority that the show will be up for review in early 08. Ratings, fan reaction, audience attendance will all be taken into consideration, but it is no lock that the next host or the show itself will make it thru season 36. I love the show, but thoughts of the price is right without Bob make me very very nervous.

The Ratings will sink because the Price is Right without Bob Barker is like NFL Countdown without CHRIS BERMAN

The ratings will no doubt go down, but they really have no place to go but down, if they get the right host in there, they may be able to keep it going. 3 more potential hosts are getting their tryouts today in studio 33.

I just don't know why CBS can't end the price is right and create a NEW GAME show since Bob barker was on the show so long. I can't look at the Price is Right with another host

I hear ya Solomon, as a big fan of the show I find it very hard to imagine life without BOB.

I remember the nighttime version of The Price Is Right in the early/mid 70's with Dennis James as host.

Also, when the morning show switched to an hour format, there was a very brief time where they used a much smaller wheel for the showcase showdown before they came up with the big wheel that's still in use today.

I guarantee the ratings will sink. I don't look for the show to get cancelled right away, but it probably will end up in that direction. CBS might give the new host at least 5 seasons (assuming ratings aren't deathly low) giving the show a memorable 40-year reign.

the same thing could have been said when the Barker era started without Bill Cullen

it'll obviously be tough at first, of course it will, but if they pick a decent host, I think they should be able to continue for at least a little while

I've seen a few episodes and clips of it and I love that version a lot. the only US version i seriously dont care for was the one hosted by Doug Davidson.

I agree, the right host would take the show forward. Another potential candidate will be testing at the end of the month, but I'd still like to see Rich get his shot

I love the Price is Right, but I doubt it will ever be the same without Bob Barker.

I want Rich too, but from what I hear, he is not even in the running. Its a shame, it really is.

As we stand now, the show is not even a lock to make it thru season 36. It is unlikely but I am hearing from reliable sources that the show will be given a half season review with the new host in place & evaluate things mid way thru next season.

Maybe the show will struggle, and maybe it won't! I still believe Todd Newton is next in line as far as Bob Barker's potential successors to host The Price is Right. Transition is still hard to cope with, but remember, Bob Barker, at 83 years of age, is very much due for retirement. Sure, the show will be hard to watch without him, but I think Bob, himself, should select his successor on his last show.

I heard a few months ago it was Dave Price, and they are planning Price Hosts Price campaign, I think the ratings will drop, no doubt, but over the summer they may rise again, never as high as Bob though...

If this is the case then that is a smart move by the part of CBS.

Even though it was an ABC show I am sure CBS remembers what happened when Dick Clark stepped aside from hosting American Bandstand back in the late 80 after being the host of that show for over 30 years. In Bandstand's case Clark picked an unknown to host the show and the fact the show went from ABC to syndication to USA. Needless to say ratings suffered and American Bandstand wasn't around for very long.

I hope The Price is Right wont go through a similar fate.

MY guess is that the show would be a goner just like The Megan Mullally show and you know how that show went. However, they need to keep Price is Right the show that it is and if they keep it the same, they should make it through the next so years.

PIR will never be the same without Bob Barker, but someone I could totally see hosting the show is John O'Hurley. He's hosted game shows before, and he is a familiar face and is established with TV viewers. I've heard rumors that he is a candidate. Does anyone know for sure??

It aired on the NBC O&O's this past September but was cancelled in January.
