For the past few days my right ear has been ringing.I've been eating better and cut out soda.It seems to get louder when im bed.I guess when i'm on the computer, the computer sound covers it up.I'm 18, so I don't know if its most likely temporary. The sound is like it's coming from the back of my head.hard to describe, but it's not a whistling sound that keeps at one tone.I have a slight headache also.Don't know if it's related.I'm going to the doctor soon, but I want to hear your suggestions in the meantime.Thanks.

Sounds like a build up of wax.

The Doc will probably syringe your ears, which just involves squirting water into your ear to break up the wax.

It's a strange sensation getting done, but your hearing will be amazing for about week afterwords. :)

It also sounds like tinnitis, caused by loud sound.
Whether it's that or wax, there's a safe, inexpensive remedy. It will remove wax - without the need for costly doctor visits. I had blocked ears, and looked it up on the net. The thing I found over and over is Hydrogen Peroxide(H2O2). I tried it and it works just like they all say.
Do a search to get directions how to do it. Also, NEVER stick an object in the ears.

If there's no ear pain, it's not serious.

my husband had to have that done once. He was amazed at all the crap they got out of his ears. FOr about a week, everytime I would say something he'd say "stop yelling! i have new ears now"...what a dork.

This article on Tinnitus may be helpful. Since you're having a problem that hasn't been diagnosed yet, I wouldn't attempt any home remedies if I were you. Good luck at the doctors. Keep us posted.

My left ear keeps plugging up. It's always that way when I wake up and it goes away later on in the day. It's a pain in the ass and it's been going on for almost a week.

Thanks a lot to everyone who helped me.You also helped me feel better. And, I think the ringing has reduced a lot.Hopefully when I lay down to sleep next time I don't get it back.

Thanks for the link, Janice.I'll do some of those things.I'll also definitely consider the advice other people gave me in this thread.

Sorry about your ear, Ashlee. You should look it up and go to the doctor just incase.Better safe than sorry.

This is something you should definitely get checked soon. My mom has been having problems with her ear for years now, and she has been experiencing ringing in her left ear for a couple months. Yesterday she went to the doctor, and he told her that she was losing her hearing, and that she needs a hearing aid. In her situation, the doctor told her that the ringing will probably never go away, and that she will eventually end up going deaf in her left ear. :( Not saying that yours is the same situation, but It is good that you're going to the doctor to get it checked out soon. Especially if you're young. It's good to get these things checked out, and taken care of when you're young, instead of waiting until you're older, and nothing can be done. Anyway, I hope your ear gets better soon. I wish you the best!! :)

My mom has had tinnitus for years. The doctor told her there is nothing to stop it. In the beginning it drove her crazy. Some days it would be light and some days it would be loud. But eventually she got used to it.

Had to get surgery because when my ear would itch i would take the top of a pen and stick it in my ear and it became infected. So I had to get TWO surgeries and now I'm all better. But it was a rough 3 years.

I was getting so irritated because after the first surgery I thought that was it but i was having the same problem. The first surgery was a ONE day surgery but the second was much bigger and I had to spend the night in the hopsital afterwards for one night. So I'm very thnakful I got through that horrible experience

I went to the doctors yesterday. The sounds are coming from my jaw by my right ear.I have an over bite or something (I have braces fixing that) and grinding teeth might have something to do with it.I have to eat soft food only and take tiny bites in the next three weeks, have a hot water rag on that area, and take something, I think Advil and I think something else also.As far as my ears' health goes, everything's perfect.

Yes, I know it's an old thread but Tinnitus has been around for eons...I had some yrs ago and I believe it's primarily from some drugs people take...pain pills are a huge offender.

And there has been an explosion of more Tinnitus in the last few years and if anyone here is experiencing NEW tinnitus, drop me a PM and I'll give you some new info.
