I too love Nicollette Larsen's version of that song. Did you know she was married to Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers? She also died very young, I believe she had cancer.

Nicolette Larson died of a brain aneurysm in 1997. She was never married to Michael McDonald though. "Lotta Love" is one of my favorite songs. :D I've never heard Neil Young's version, but I don't think that I would much like it, because I'm not a big fan of his music.

You know what, she did a duet with him, but I swore I heard on the radio that she was married to him. I was like totally shocked when i heard that bit of info. I never bothered to look it up. Bad rumors!

Yeah, they did a duet together. Michael McDonald is actually married to a studio singer named Amy Holland. Amy contributed songs to the Scarface soundtrack.

JO Sweet Heart 09-29-2016, 08:25 PM My newest favorite singer, the late beautiful precious Billy Joe Royal, is actually no stranger to singing songs that were done first by another act. I have no idea why there are so many, but at least 50 songs were covered by him and I love the way that each of them were done. To me the following are his stand outs.
"Give 'Em My Number"-done first by Ricky Nelson
"He'll Have To Go"-done first by Jim Reeves
"Kiss And Say Goodbye"-done first by the Manhattans
"Tell It Like It Is"-done first by Aaron Neville
"Till I Can't Take It Anymore"-done first by Ray Charles
"I Love A Rainy Night"-done first by Eddie Rabbit
"Cracklin' Rosie"-done first by Neil Diamond
"Do You Love As Good As You Look"-done first by the Bellamy Brothers
"Solitary Man"-done first by Neil Diamond
"Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away"-done first by Willie Nelson I am guessing because he is the writer of the song
God bless you and Billy Joe's family always!!!
Holly
P.S. That last song was actually covered by him in 1965 and 1992.
