You choose and why?

View Full Version : Which was the ultimate 80s show: Diff'rent Strokes or Facts of Life 88survivor 01-21-2007, 12:57 PM You choose and why? I Love Lamp 01-21-2007, 04:09 PM I related more with it, and it was funnier to me. Nighthawk76 01-21-2007, 04:40 PM Is there any question? :D DS is a funny show. Gary Coleman had great comedic abilities and Dana Plato was a real cutie before she became a junkie, and who didn't want a dad like Mr. Drummond? The guy was a filthy rich, but he never seemed to go to work. Still, DS just doesn't have the magic that "Facts" has. A.D.A. Casey Novak 01-21-2007, 06:48 PM I don't remember much of DS. I remember that I thought Gary Coleman was very funny. And then he went on to do all those TV movies. Does anyone remember that one where he was a kid who liked to start fires (his gf in the movie was Tammy Lauren, the girl who played the prostitute in Facts' "Runaway")? And then there was the one about the kid with the genious IQ. I think one of the daughters from "Gimme A Break" was in it too. Didn't he also do a movie once with a monkey? I always kind of felt sorry for GC. I don't think he's a very happy person. But overall, I like FOL much more. 88survivor 01-21-2007, 06:49 PM As always, FOL is winning by a landslide. IheartBlair 01-21-2007, 06:55 PM although I did enjoy the Diff'rent Strokes theme song, the show was only sort of funny, it didn't make me want to watch it constantly. So of course The Facts of Life was and still is superior to Diff'rent Strokes. 88survivor 01-21-2007, 10:12 PM Finished Seasons 1&2. Now on to buy Season 3...:) JNSBSB 01-21-2007, 10:22 PM :) FOL wins for me!:) DS was only watchable because of Gary Coleman, and then.......!:sleep2: angie_87 01-22-2007, 12:50 AM Facts of life...I've never seen Different Strokes so I cant really compare them 88survivor 01-22-2007, 01:14 AM I have the 1st and 2nd Season of Diff'rent Strokes, as well as Facts of Life. What surprised me is that some of the guest stars that appeared on Diff'rent Strokes also appeared on FOL. I know that the key players of Diff'rent Strokes appeared in various spots of FOL. Gary Coleman twice. Todd Bridges twice. Dana once. Conrad once. But it is always kind of surprising to see some guest stars do appear on FOL when they were on DS. :) Interesting. Now, on to buy Season 3.;) JO jr 01-22-2007, 07:05 PM As always, FOL is winning by a landslide. HMMM...WONDER IF THE RESULTS WOULD BE THE SAME IF YOU POST THIS VOTE ON THE DS BOARDS. BUT...I GOTTA GO WITH FACTS-ALL THE WAY, EVERY DAY:D DOPEY85xxx 01-23-2007, 06:08 PM After buying the fist few seasons can you really compare? FACTS OF LIFE RULES!!!!!!!!!!! 88survivor 01-25-2007, 05:40 PM Really getting Season 3, but first I will have to eye on TJ Hooker 1&2 Seasons....Yeah, I'm an 80s nut, so sue me...:happyface 88survivor 02-05-2007, 06:31 PM Man, when are they releasing the 4th season...suspense is killing me... PrettyinPink55 02-06-2007, 03:42 AM Always FOL!!! :D Buffyboy323 02-08-2007, 09:55 AM I really do love them both, but as Blairs#1Fan said earlier, "DS just doesn't have the magic that "Facts" has." 88survivor 02-12-2007, 02:04 PM I know, but I love both and it is a nostalgic feeling to watch both beloved 80s show instead of reality crap! sofie_ms2005 02-17-2007, 02:11 AM I've watched both FOL & DS in the 80s. I can't remember any episode of DS whereas I could still remember a lot of episodes of FOL. So for me, FOL is the ultimate show.;) Dean Winchester 12-11-2007, 06:50 AM I watched both shows as a little kid in the 80's, but FOL has aged so much better. DS has some episodes that hold up, but for every one of those, there are 2 or 3 that are almost embarassing to watch in the present day Fallon97 03-08-2011, 12:00 AM I love both shows, but Facts of Life is my favorite. Johnny be good! 10-10-2012, 08:50 AM Facts of Life for sure. RetroGuy2000 03-20-2014, 12:50 AM Resurrecting this thread to vote for Facts of Life as the ultimate 80s show. The last five seasons actually look more dated than the earlier episodes, since the giant poofed-up hair and 1980s fashions are dead giveaways that the Eastland years exhibit to a much smaller degree. |
