View Full Version : Rosie's Latest Target Is 'Intoxicated' Abdul
theshark8777 01-20-2007, 12:55 PM Jan. 19 — Rosie O'Donnell is one of the 37 million TV viewers watching "American Idol," but don't count her among those who liked what they saw.
For the second day in a row, "The View" co-host suggested Paula Abdul was drinking during the show and lashed out at the show for making fun of the people auditioning.
O'Donnell and her co-hosts played a clip from Wednesday night's "Idol," in which a contestant, following an off-key audition, was roundly mocked and rejected by the judges.
"That's compassion for you," O'Donnell said. "Isn't that what America thinks is entertainment, to make fun of someone's physical appearance? And then, when they leave the room, laugh hysterically at them -- three millionaires, one probably intoxicated."
O'Donnell had joked about Abdul's demeanor a day earlier. "Paula was very thirsty last night," she said.
"That girl was sipping Coke every shot. And toward the end of the evening, one eye was wandering."
MsOrange 01-20-2007, 02:25 PM has she never watched American Idol before? That's what the entire first two hour special episode is about. Geez.
I can't stand her.

It's actually pretty much like that the first 3 weeks. I don't know what her problem is. People have to know this going into these auditions, it's only been happening for 6 years now.
Cactus Jack 01-20-2007, 02:29 PM WTF? Whatev, I cant stand Rosie anyways.
PrettyinPink55 01-20-2007, 02:31 PM Rosie needs to shut her mouth!!!!
I don't watch Idol, and have never seen it voluntarily. But in that interview she did one morning a few weeks ago with KCPQ in Seattle, there was definitely something wrong with her. She'd either had a mild stroke, or more realistically, she was tanked on something.

i think some people go into the auditions and try to do the WORSE possible performance they can, just to get on TV. They'd HAVE to... it amazes me that some of those people actually call themselves "talented"
dawsongirl 01-20-2007, 03:04 PM This is news? People have been saying this for days. She probably has a drinking problem.
EmoJoe 01-20-2007, 03:17 PM shes such an idiot  people have known the AI auditions are to humiliate people for 5 years now.
Dutabi84 01-20-2007, 03:41 PM Who cares? Dozens of entertainers are making fun of Abdul. Letterman did last night, why aren't any journalists writing stories about that?
Max Whittaker 01-20-2007, 04:53 PM WTF? Whatev, I cant stand Rosie anyways.
I can't stand American Idol.
Ireneparalegal 01-20-2007, 08:23 PM How ironic that Rosie is criticizing the harshness of the judging, yet! she is talking abt Paula Abdul and a supposed intoxication problem that Rosie knows nothing abt.

Earlier in the thread, Dustin raised a good point that nobody has addressed: a lot of TV personalities are making fun of Paula Abdul's slurred interview. Why are we taking it out solely on Rosie O'Donnell?
dawsongirl 01-21-2007, 04:37 AM I can't stand American Idol.
Me either. With a couple exceptions, most people seem to quickly forget the winners anyway.
Plus for 6 months, it's all people talk about and it gets very very old.

Probably because she seems to be attacking a lot of people lately, and not in a joking way.
Still stupid to give her so much press just for being an opinionated bitch who thinks she's perfect.

Well, Rosie has had a big mouth her whole life. I'm guessing she's made comments about other celebrities like this before without making headline news. Like Brad mentioned to me, it seems to be the 'in thing' now to report every word that comes out of her mouth.

It does seem unfair that people seem to criticise only Rosie O'Donnell when other people are making similar remarks.
It might be because her feud with Donald Trump has generated so much publicity, so she's probably an easy target.

O'Donnell is getting the publicity she wants. That's why she's doing it. I read two articles this weekend that stated that she may be leaving The View for her own show.

Yeah I read that too. Some people are saying that's a way to get her off the view too. I guess there is some clause in her contract that after a certain amout of time she can leave the View for her own show.
Ireneparalegal 01-21-2007, 08:03 PM What other HIGH PROFILE people are saying stuff abt Abdul...aside from Leno, Letterman and Kimmel?

People Magazine asked what was up with her bizarre behavior.

Did you read the one from last week? It had a very sad story in it.

People were talking about her behavior last year too. It's nothing new.

I didn't see it. My daughter got the magazine and I haven't seen it since. What story?

That's what I am trying to find out...other than the late show hosts, who else is talking abt Paula and her supposed intoxication? Brie just mentioned the PEOPLE article.
Brieannas21 01-21-2007, 09:14 PM I didn't see it. My daughter got the magazine and I haven't seen it since. What story?
In Last weeks "People" there was a story about this lady who was killed in her home last November. Her sister went to her house for some papers and she found her sister dead. It was said that the ladies daughter who's 2 yrs old I believe, was walking around looking for Band-Aids for her mom’s booboos. They said that she had been beaten to death and they think that her husband did it, and he's not talking to anyone.
I've seen Keith Olbermann and Alison Stewart, both of MSNBC, make fun of that Paula Abdul interview on separate occasions.
In fact, here's Keith (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL5a-MbrtDw).

I haven't read the magazine, but I do know what you are talking abt. I read abt that story when the crime occurred. I smell another Scott Peterson liar on our hands.

Alison Stewart was on MTV a long time ago as a host for various programming they had, it doesn't surprise me. As for Keith Olbermann, it doesn't surprise me either that he said something. Isn't that what he does normally? I am on Rosie's butt for the fact that in the same show, she blasted the judges (mainly Simon) for their making fun of how contestants looked...THEN, SHE HAS THE AUDACITY in the same show to make an insinuation abt Paula and what is really in her coke cup. That is what I am merely saying.

Does Keith Olbermann like anyone?
Sure he does. Why wouldn't he?
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 01-21-2007, 10:28 PM Not taking sides but wtf does everyone keep making such a big deal out of what Rosie is saying? They say crap like that all the time on tv, and The View. Isn't it expected with that show? It's basically what it's all about. People need to calm the down. Who the hell cares what they have to say? Laugh at it and move on.

Well, I said "move one" when it was Rosie vs. Donald, but it didn't seem to stop. Now, here we have her as a thread topic again...

Okay. I watch him almost every day, and he doesn't seem "angry" or to "hate the world" to me. In fact, most of the second half of his show usually has a humorous tone, including the clip I posted.
And although Keith is probably very happy to be at MSNBC, he does co-host The Dan Patrick Show on ESPN Radio for an hour a day.

Give it a rest. That bastard has nightly segment devoted to hate. The Worst Person deal. Has a book by the same name.
"The Worst Person In The World" is usually a segment that points out stupid or outrageous things that people do or say.
TVFactFan 01-22-2007, 06:29 PM Keith Olberman LEFT ESPN because he didn't like living in Connecticut, not because he couldn't make it

Exactly. Another thread on her because people can't get over it. She's not saying anything any different than what we say around our friends. Granted, she IS saying it on national tv...but it's kind of her job.

It only makes her look foolish to be defending people for being criticized for one thing or another YET, here she is in the same breath stating that Paula has something in her cup other than coke, mocking her eye movement, so forth. It also makes her a hypocrite. I defended Rosie with the Donald Trump fiasco, I will not defend her hypocritical actions.

I'm not necessarily defending her, I just think it shouldn't be made into such a big deal. Besides, it's her problem for making herself look foolish, not ours...and obviously she doesn't care so I say whatever floats ur boat.

You use a site slanted to the right to prove that Keith Olbermann has a "nightly hate segment against conservatives."
Why don't you watch the show yourself and make your own decision based on what you see?

exactly. i think some people just like to jump on her. granted she is annoying at times and does go too far with things but it's getting ridiculous now that people are getting all worked up about it. like you said, The View is a gossip show anyway.

I clicked the link (reluctantly, because I know that Brent "Let's Decide Who Watches What On TV" Bozell runs the MRC). Their argument is laughable. They're basing his bias on who gets crowned the "Worst Person In The World," which is a small segment that might be a minute long per day on his show.

Lots of words which translate to you lost the argument.

Weak, weak, weak. The FACT is that Olbermann targets conservatives in his nightly bash segment. There's no denying that. If that's not the definition of a political hack, nothing is.
Sharop 01-23-2007, 02:08 PM Maybe Mr Olbermann could talk about The Goonies. That would be a fun. The Goonies is a great film.
Everyone: let's write letters to his show and request that he talk about The Goonies on one of his shows.

No sense in denying the obvious. I'll be the first one to admit that Limbaugh, Hannity, etc are political hacks for the right. Next up, a roundtable discussion with the Flat Earth Society followed by in-depth analysis to solve the mystery of the color of the sky. Blue gets my vote, but that's just me.
