I can't beleive I forgot Eric Clapton. His is a case where his solo music is far more popular then the music he made when he was in the verious groups he was in.

Irene is a HUGE fan of Peter Cetera's solo work, so I'm sure she will be glad that you mentioned him. ;)

I considered listing Diamond Dave, but his solo career, at least from a commercial standpoint, ended only a few years after it began.

Dominic Ierace aka Donnie Iris, famous for hits "Ah! Leah!" and "My Girl" in the early 1980s, started out with The Jaggerz and Wild Cherry.

Also, Glenn Frey and Don Henley had some pretty successful careers after the Eagles broke up in the early 1980s. Don Felder had a minor hit in 1981 called "Heavy Metal (Takin' A Ride)." I can't remember what Timothy B. Schmit did, however.

One of the other members of the Eagles had success as well...JOE WALSH.

I had forgotten about Joe Walsh being one of the Eagles; I think of his other band, the James Gang, when I hear his name.

Of note, Neil Young sang with them, too, when they were called Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. (Having said that, I have a tendency to refer to them as Crosby, Stills, and Nash--or even CS&N--just like you did.)

If you read my original post correctly I posted artists who had ONE HIT or more. I didn't say anything abt albums. Ronald Isley did songs with R.Kelly and others.

I forgot about Jermaine Jackson. That's my boy. I love his solo albums. I got his albums Let's Get Serious and Jermaine Jackson that has the songs Dynamite, Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming with Michael Jackson, Do What You Do. I wonder why Skip Martin of Dazz Band never did any solo albums. He has a nice voice. Gerald Levert had some solo success.

Bruce Dickinson had a pretty successful solo career when he briefly left Iron Maiden in the 90's, which albums such as:

Tattooed Millionaire (1990)
Balls to Picasso (1994)
Skunkworks (1996)
Accident of Birth (1997)
The Chemical Wedding (1998)

And while still with the band, released his latest solo effort:

Musically I like a lot of solo artists better when they were with groups.
Kenny Rogers with The First Edition
Michael Jackson with his brothers
Tina with Ike (I really dislike her solo work which is not the case with the others)
Ozzy with Sabbath

I also like
The Beatles, Stones, Who, and Beach Boys much better as a group.

Nina Gordon from Veruca Salt - "Tonight and the Rest of My Life"

Kay Hanley from Letters to Cleo had some moderate hits, most notably on soundtracks for "10 Things I hate About You", "Just Like Heaven" and of course all of Josie's vocals in the "Josie and the ***** Cats" movie

Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple to form his own solo band Rainbow, with such hits as "Man On the Silver Mountain", "Since You Been Gone", "Street Of Dreams" and "Stone Cold"

Ronnie James Dio - after Elf, Black Sabbath and Rainbow he formed his own band Dio and had hits such as "Rainbow in the Dark", "Holy Diver", "We Rock" , "The Last in Line", "King of Rock and Roll", "Rock 'n' Roll Children", "Hungry for Heaven"
