View Full Version : Celebrities, babies and secrets...
Janice 01-16-2007, 11:21 PM Clark Cable and Loretta Young had a daughter, but kept her a secret because Gable was married, and they were under contract...back in those days, studios had morals clauses written in.
Jack Nicholson grew up thinking that his grandmother was his mother. The person he thought was his sister, was in fact, his mother. He found out the truth when he was a star, through a magazine reporter.
Liv Tyler grew up thinking that Todd Rundgren was her father, but learned that Aerosmith's Steve Tyler was her bio Dad.
Got any?

Actually, Jack found out because he got a phone call from a guy claiming to be his father, so he called his Aunt Lorraine(whom he thought was his sister) and she explained everything to him. He was in his 30's when he found out.

I knew he was an adult...imdb and Wikipedia have him finding out through a reporter, but no matter, it's still an interesting story.
There's another actor who thought his mother was deceased, but turns out that she was alive in a mental institution. I saw it on Dateline or something a years ago, but for the life of me, I can't remember the actor.
HuntingtonM15 01-17-2007, 12:36 AM Not completely the same thing, but Wynonna Judd didn't find out that Ashley Judd was only her half sister until she was in her 30's.

That's interesting and news to me.
Ireneparalegal 01-17-2007, 11:30 AM I don't know how much of a secret this is NOW, but years ago singer Prince and his wife (ex-wife now) had a child who died. It was kept hush hush for the longest time and information was so tight-lipped as to whether such a child was even born to Prince.
Here is an example of that:

Death of Prince's baby investigated
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Authorities are reviewing the case of a boy who died a week after he was born to the artist formerly known as Prince and his wife.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner, prosecutors and police confirmed the inquiry Monday, but would not provide details.
Erlene and Arlene Mojica, described as personal assistants close to the musician's wife, have contacted authorities about the case, said their attorney, Larry Altman.
Altman said the twin sisters were fired Dec. 23 by Paisley Park Enterprises, Prince's company, but declined further comment.
The 38-year-old musician, who uses a symbol for a name, acknowledged in December that the child was born with a problem. The death certificate for the boy, who was born Oct. 16 and apparently died Oct. 23, lists his cause of death as complications caused by a rare skull deformity.
Neither the birth nor the death certificate lists a father, and the death certificate does not clearly identify the child's mother.
Dr. John Fangman, listed as the baby's doctor on the death certificate, said the cause of death was natural.
Ireneparalegal 01-17-2007, 12:14 PM Here is another tidbit.
Singer-actor Bobby Darin who was married to Sandra Dee.
In 1968 the then-32-year-old Darin discovered the woman he'd been calling sister all those years was actually his mother. Darin had been contemplating a career in politics, which prompted his "sister" to come clean about the circumstances of his birth.
Janice 01-17-2007, 12:55 PM Diana Ross and Motown founder, Berry Gordy, had a daughter. Diana was married to someone else at the time, so it was kept under wraps for years.
Ireneparalegal 01-17-2007, 12:59 PM Awwww, you beat me to it. I was just getting ready to post that. Damn!
Yes, Diana was married to her then husband Robert Siblestein (?sp) who I believe KNEW abt the fact that this was Gordy's and Diana's daughter. Robert was white by the way.

I remember this!
Prince and Matay had a baby, then they didn't, then they got divorced and the media didn't say a thing about it.
