I searched the message forum for any information on episode 180 in which a 26 year old woman was murdered in Louisiana in 1989. I haven't seen the episode yet but am interested in the name of the woman, where in Louisiana she was killed and if anyone knows if there has been an update to this case.

The 26 year old woman was from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. If anyone knows why she was in Louisiana that'd help, too!

Her name was Tracy Wofford-Bunn. The segment said after she had divorced her husband (I believe Solomon Bunn) she went to visit her sister (Danyel maybe her name) in Baton Rouge. She had such a good time she went back to Milwaukee but a few weeks later decided to move to Baton Rouge. She had a boyfriend and was working at a restaurant. She was found dead in her car I believe in an apartment complex. I believe she had been raped and her clothes had been placed back on her. She also had some unusual burns on her body that police were puzzled about. I haven't found anything about her case on the internet so I don't know if anyone was ever arrested for her murder. I have this on tape so I can rewatch it if you need any more specific info.

Is this the case where the car's stick shift was broken or badly damaged? I remember seeing a segment years ago about a woman who was found dead in her car but police could not explain how the stick shift was broken. Seems like the boyfriend had borrowed the car and said it just "broke off" like it was no big deal. Am I thinking about the right case?

Yep, that's the one. Her boyfriend and one of his friends claim they were riding around in it and the stick shift broke off. They left it someplace, and when Tracy got off work that night, she asked him where her car was, he told her and she went to go get it, on foot. She was found dead in her car the next morning. While it does seem a bit odd that the stick shift broke off, I believe the police ruled the boyfriend out as a main suspect. Seems like I recall Tracy's sister saying something to the effect of Tracy might have known about drug deals and perhaps was going to tell police about it, and someone decided to off her before she had a chance to.
