3 questions...

1) was it a real spider in all scenes?

2) was it a tarantula or was it a wolf spider?

3) Are those kind of spiders really found in Hawaii around tourists/tourist areas?

4) Did the spider scenes really freak you out when you were little?

Note how Mike Brady pointed out that there are no really poisonous spiders in Hawaii. I wonder if that line was originally in the script or if Robert Reed insisted that it be added.

Here's what Barry Williams had to say about the spider in his book Growing Up Brady: "The 'poisonous spider' wasn't deadly, but it did have large fangs. In fact, when it came time to shoot the bug scenes, our 'spider wrangler' held up shooting until he could place a tiny piece of styrofoam over each pointy little fang."

It might have been a wolf spider.
