View Full Version : "Wings"-ish question on 1 vs. 100...
McFly121 01-15-2007, 10:34 PM I was jumping up and down when I saw it, as only the most ardent of Wings fans would know. But the question dealt with Caroll O' Connor, Ed Asner, and Kelsey Grammer. Which one was the only actor to be nominated for playing the same character on three different shows?
I start pointing at the tv like a maniac in front of my girlfriend, "Kelsey! It's Kelsey! 'Cheers', 'Wings', and 'Frasier'!!!!" I then gave her the discertation that Kelsey was the one and only nom. and win for "Wings" over the years.
I was like, what if one of us here at the board had been on 1 vs. 100 and seen that question come up (and the guy was going for like $300,000 bucks at that point)? Hysteria.
blackbeard 01-15-2007, 11:33 PM I saw that show also and knew it wasn't Caroll O' Connor or Ed Asner. I would have loved to been on the show and been able to answer Kelsey Grammer.

Hilarious, I pull that stuff on my girlfriend all the time when it comes to Wings. She just shakes her head and smiles. I have got her to really like the show though, she never used to watch it. :D
Chocoholic 01-16-2007, 03:46 PM Did the guy answer the question correctly?
McFly121 01-16-2007, 03:51 PM Kristen, he went with the mob (the panel of opponents in the game) via the "Trust the Mob" selection, I believe. This means he must lock in with their answer. And suprisingly, the mob guessed right, but only by like a 2% margin.
Brian, same here...showed her the recent xmas episodes on Tv Land and the Jenny McCarthy episode. She was hooked after that, ha!
Chocoholic 01-16-2007, 04:04 PM I tried introducing one of my friends to Wings recently. He didn't care for it though. Then again, he doesn't usually go for those types of shows anyway. He's into crime shows and murder mysteries, which I can't stand :barf: TV watching is not something we can do together.
Paulg 01-17-2007, 06:47 PM the thing is both Kelsey and Ed Asner have both been on 3 different shows with the same charachter. Ed was Lou Grant on Mary Tyler Moore,Lou Grant Show, and Phyllis. while Kelsey as they said was Frasier on Cheers,Frasier, and Wings. so actually both Ed and Kelsey was tied.

but the question was which of the 3 was nominated for playing the same character on 3 different shows. Ed Asner was not nominated for his appearance on Phyllis.
TV DVD Fan 01-17-2007, 08:33 PM ... And LOU GRANT was drama, not comedy...
I saw the question too... What an easy question for 300 grand (well, for us anyway)...
Paulg 01-19-2007, 09:38 PM he was still on 3 different shows. the other choice was only on 2. but the question was "who was nominated" and as Ed was not nominated,he didn't count.
