View Full Version : I Wonder What Rappers Would Do For A Career If Rap Music Never Existed
isiahthomas 01-15-2007, 08:40 PM I know a lot of them would be drug dealers, thieves, hustlers, pimps, murderers hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Most rappers don't believe in being educated and getting a good job because to them if you did that, you would be a sellout or a square. These rappers better thank god that these record companies were interested in signing them or else there would be no rap music. I'm sure if record companies weren't interested, rappers would still find a way to make music. I'm so tired of rap music right now. The music right now especially the southern rappers is trash. Midwest rappers, some California rappers and some New York rappers are trash also. Nobody is interested in making songs about politics and education because garbage lyrics and ignorance is what's selling right now and the record companies are exploiting the artists and making money off of them. The rappers are too stupid to see that.
isiahthomas 02-14-2007, 08:27 PM I should've known ya'll lame white people wouldn't respond to this topic. I figured ya'll would respond and give your opinion about this since ya'll hate rap music so much. I wish ya'll would stop having these messed up opinions that all rap music is bad because it's not. Every rapper doesn't curse, glorify violence and disrespect women. White people are afraid of political rappers like Public Enemy, KRS One, Paris, Dead Prez, Geto Boys, The Coup because when blacks tell racist whites the truth about themselves, they get scared and wanna protest against rap music.
Brian Damage 02-14-2007, 08:31 PM When are you going to shut the **** up?
isiahthomas 02-14-2007, 08:40 PM Why don't you say you're closet racist? I know you are. You dissed Spike Lee to me a long time ago saying his movies don't make money. Who gives a sh*t? Why don't you just say you don't like his movies because he offends you and you can't relate to blacks?
Brian Damage 02-14-2007, 08:52 PM Why don't you say you're closet racist? I know you are. You dissed Spike Lee to me a long time ago saying his movies don't make money. Who gives a sh*t? Why don't you just say you don't like his movies because he offends you and you can't relate to blacks?
I just hate ignorant people, and you are the king of ignorance. Now please shut the **** up!
PS, Spike Lee still sucks.

The reason your thread didn't get responded to isn't because "lame" white people dislike rap (definitely not the case); it's because you're a racist moron, as evidenced by your words above.
For your information bro, I'm a black dude, and I know what tha word "n!**@" means, and naw I ain't talkin' bout tha word "n!***r.
And nobody envoked that word but you.

Brian, you don't like Spike Lee? You racist! GRRRRRR!
racist

2. discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion
noun
1. a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others
2. one who doesn't like film director Spike Lee

What can I say, Crooklyn was heinous!

What would rappers be doing for a career if rap never existed?
Uhhhh, playing REAL music on REAL instruments, perhaps?
What can I say, Crooklyn was heinous!
I don't know... Crooklyn, Citizen Kane. What's the difference.
Brian, you're supposed to like the work of every black person who ever lived. You damn racist.

platinumblondelife 02-15-2007, 01:51 AM People may not like Spike Lee's opinions but we have to admit he is a good director, and gets his point across very strongly, though you may disagree, you have to respect that on a certain level. As far as every rapper being poor or whatever if they werent rappers, I don't necessarily agree because many of them have been smart enough to know how to make it from dirt poor, to being multi-millionaires.
Oh, I like a lot of Spike Lee's movies, especially 25th Hour and his recent HBO documentary on Hurricane Katrina. I just think it's ridiculous to call someone racist because a white person doesn't like a particular black person.
Buffyboy323 02-15-2007, 09:27 AM Well call me a "lame white person", but this is the most ignorant thing i've ever read on here. And like Brian said, you really do need to shut the **** up. What does someone benefit from writing things like this?

That may be your opinion of him, but you have to admit he is a excellent director and a good business man as well. Lots of people do like and respect him and his work. Being that you live in NYC, Brian, I would think you would be able to relate to all of his movies being that most of them are set there.
I know this is the music board and not the movie board, but I just had to tell you that.

I am just not a fan of his work. I am not a fan of Woody Allen's movies either and he sets them in NYC too.
Mr. Cranky 02-15-2007, 09:23 PM What's all this crap that we have to admit he's a good director? No we don't. Like, love or hate his work. People feel the way they do, period.

Boy, someone sure sounds just like their username.
Mr. Cranky 02-15-2007, 09:39 PM Boy, someone sure sounds just like their username.
Yeah, I get cranky when people tell me that I have to feel a certain way about anyone or anything. Try to think of a singer/actor/director/athelete/politician that you don't like. Then have someone tell you that you have to admit they're good.

First of all, when I said that, I wasn't talking to you anyway. Secondly, you don't have to like anyone, I was telling Brian Damage that people's accomplishments should be respected. If this pertains to you, then you have fu cking issues! So what, you hate Spike Lee, he hasn't done anything to you!

If you want a private conversation with Brian, send him a PM. And you're wrong, nobody has to respect anyone's accomplishments, and you're not the only one who posted that either. I have issues? Look at you all pissy because I gave my opinion. Spike Lee never did anything to me that's true. Never said he did, never said I hated him. I don't like his movies. The guy's an idiot though. Claims Bush had the levees were purposely destroyed in New Orleans. I'll choose who I want to respect and it's not him.

Listen here, you jumped in on a converstion I had with Brian, I don't need to send him a PM. You do have issues, because you came across as cranky like I said and nobody was talking to you. Like I said before, Spike Lee is and EXCELLENT director and a successful business man. If you can't relate to his movies (Which I am sure that's the case) don't get on a message board and prejudge on what you don't know.
BTW, YOU got pissy because I told Brian to give credit where credit is due. if you want to argue, I suggest you go talk to the wall or go look in the mirror and start jawing. It's obvious you are upset at yourself for some reason.

Listen here? Ohhh, you're scaring me. Sounds like my 4th grade teacher. Wow another resident message board analyst. What would we do without these online shrinks. No need to get all personal here. You're supposed to be KOOL, lol. I jumped in on a message board discussion. Is there a rule where members can't respond to any post they want? You think Spike Lee is all that and a bag of chips and stating that someone has to admit he's a good director. I'm telling you that nobody has to do any such thing. Now get a grip. You're losing your KOOL. :D

Never thought I'd be defending Mr. Cranky, but come on - everyone's supposed to like Spike Lee? And it's okay to call someone who doesn't a racist? How does that work?

Well fine, you can think he sucks as a director, I doubt it matters what you think of him anyway, but I'm sure the only reason you think he sucks as a director is because you don't agree with his politics...if you were objective you would see differently.

His politics are all over his movies, case in point, "Do The Right Thing", which wasn't a bad movie..

I wasn't trying to MAKE someone like Spike Lee. All I am saying is that he's had a successful career as a director which shouldn't go overlooked even by those who hate him. I respect a lot of people I hate. Everytime someone mentions how successful a black man has been, people want to take offense and start an argument and throw the hate card out there. I know Spike Lee doesn't appeal to most people, but he does own his own company and doesn't let anyone tell him how to make his movies.

Thanks for giving me permission to think Lee sucks as a director. I sure do appreciate that. And don't be so sure of my reasons either. I like quite a few liberal directors. People try to assign reasons as if they're in someone else's head. First I'm told I have to admit Lee is a good director, and when I refuse I'm told why I don't like him. His movies suck, IN MY OPINION, and I don't like the man.

I don't want to start an argument and you are entitled to your opinion, but these movies were classics. I remember when Malcom X came out, my high school took us to see it. My high school had 1600 hundred students and let me tell you, 90 % of the school went. The audience ate it up. I haven't seen 25th Hour, so I can't defend that one. These movies probably didn't get "mainstream" numbers, but they were modest hits, and probably the way Spike wanted it to be. Remember, directing is not his main source of an income, he's also a successful businessman.
