Step away from the small screen for a few minutes, and check out the biggest screen. A comet passing the Sun may get super-bright Jan 11+12. This may be one of those rare historic sights of history.... like 1910, 1080, 0??
Look just above sunset(southwest) from 4:45-5:30pm.

I really liked the Hale Bopp comet. I remember when I was little Haleys comet was supposed to be so great, and it was a huge letdown. The Hale Bopp you could see with the naked eye for months!

Yea, Hall-Bopp was awesome. They're saying this one could get brighter.
Well, it's 5:30 pst, the head of the comet is below the horizon but the tail should be visible when its dark. You may need an unobstructed horizon

Damn! I would love to see it but we are being hit by a snowstorm. I guess I will have to catch the pics on the news. I wonder if someone will post it on youtube, If anyone finds it post it on this thread that would be cool.

Solomon you want snow you can have some of mine, yesterday a 10 min drive took 2 hours to get home. Freak storm caught everyone of guard.

I didn't find it: I guess it dimmed. And the tail isn't long enough to see past 6pm. Comets can change over a short period.
One more chance on the 12th. I know exactly where to look now.http://skytonight.com/observing/home/5133461.htmlVenus is the one that looks like a bright star;comets are fuzzy. 4:45-5:10pm.
