View Full Version : More Steel Artistry: The 2007 Collection
Hey kids, TJL here.
Once again, I have been tinkering at the shop this week while things were slow, and I have some new pieces to show you.
This week, it's pendants!
I bought myself a cheapo Dremel engraver over the holidays and I've been playing around with it on pieces of scrap steel, and carved out a few simple designs. I wanted to do more zodiac symbols, but I played around with some other ideas.
To give you some idea of the size, the Saggitarius "arrow" is about the size of a quarter. Let me know what you think.

I would not have the patience to do that, I think it is pretty good, neat hobby. Just wait till you get used to the new toy and you will be rolling in the $ from Ebay, a TJL exclusive.
Ebay huh? Not too sure about that.
Thanks for the kind words Lex.
The great thing about living in NYC is that you can pretty much find anything you need within walking distance of where you live, so I did some research and found a jewelry supply place that was on my way home from work, and i picked up a bunch of rings and connector things plus some cord to makes these into necklaces. I'll post some picks later.
Janice 01-13-2007, 02:08 AM Very impressive Tom! You're getting better and better at this. I look forward to more pics.
Here are two more I finished up on Friday. Thses were very popular with my friends at the Gaf.
The Gaf Diver - in jewlery form!
The left one is a lapel pin. I already have few orders for that one.
Since my employment status has changed, I had some more free time to make a few more pendants;
A new star and heart, a cross made of polished metal, and a new "sun" design that I stole from the sundance catalog. Don't tell Robert Redford.
Here are the zodiac pendants I'm working on now. I just finished drawing the images on a piece of steel with a sharpie. Next step is to trace over the marks with the engraver.
I think I'm going to sell these on Ebay when i finish them.
MsOrange 02-03-2007, 05:40 PM awesome Tom. Never pictured you as a jewlery designer, but i must say, these look great!

I never thought of myself as a jewlery designer either, but times are tough and Daddy needs beer money.
;)

Janice 02-08-2007, 01:17 PM Can I get your autograph while you're not famous?

Here's another one i made. i wore it last night, and I forgot to photograph it with the others.
I like this one. i think I'm going to make more variations of this.
Nighthawk76 02-08-2007, 10:52 PM That is great work.:) I am interested in trying out a creative hobby. I've been thinking of taking up painting.
