I can't believe he fired Art Shell this season. He should've given Art another chance. This was Art's 2nd time coaching the Raiders and he got fired the first time. Now he gets fired again. How do you fire a guy after one season? The Raiders aren't gonna be good overnight. That team needs some better players.

I think a lot of it had to do with Jerry Porter not liking him.
I agree though, how can you turn anything around in one season.

If I am not mistaken, wasn't Al Davis the first owner to hire a black head coach? I'll agree with you shouldn't fire him after one season, but I don't buy the racist stuff.

Yes, the guy who hired a black coach twice is the rascist in the NFL. That makes no sense. I think they were terrible, and he deserved to get fired. Talent wise they are not that bad, are they?

I'm black(half black anyway), and I'm saying this isn't racist. He gave black guys a chance to coach when no one else would.

I think this may the most absurd thing I've heard in all of 2007 to date. Easily.

Al Davis may be many things, and he may no longer have what it takes to be the top guy of this team, but if there is one thing the man is NOT it's a racist, and given the body of evidence counter to your claim, is almost slanderous.

Davis' problem is he can't see the writing on the wall that it's time for him to move on, so he blames the team's eventual failures on coaches, when the blame lies with him.

You're absolutely right. I remember when Al Davis could do no wrong. That was a long time ago. He's lost it and the Raiders have lost their mystic. They used to be NFL Rebels and now they are just a joke. I don't know if I've ever seen a team as bad as the Raiders were this year.
