Celine Dion's Las Vegas concert extravaganza at Caesars Palace will close on Dec. 15 after a nearly five-year run.

"As we prepare ourselves to say goodbye, I know this will be the best year yet," Dion said in a statement Thursday outlining production changes for the show's final year.

The Grammy award-winning singer, who signed a three-year, $100 million contract, started the splashy gig, titled "A New Day," in March 2003. The run was later extended through 2007. A closing date had not been previously announced.

Producers say nearly 2.5 million people have seen Dion's show since it opened in the Colosseum, a $95 million theater built and designed for the production.

The final year of the show will include new costumes and new numbers. In late January, "A New Day" will be filmed for a TV special and DVD, producers said.

The final block of tickets for performances from August through December will go on sale on March 1.

Caesars has not announced Dion's replacement.

My boyfriend wanted to see her when we went to Vegas. The tickets were WAAAAY EXPENSIVE. However, when we go again later this year, I may just surprise him and buy him those tickets.

I would love to see her show. She has such a beautiful voice.

The Rio Casino and Hotel now has Prince performing there. THAT SHOW I MOST DEFINITELY WANT TO SEE.

I wonder who they will get to take her place, someone popular enough to fill the seats every night?

I SAW CELINE HERE IN CHICAGO WITH A FEW FRIENDS WHEN SHE PERFORMED IN CONCERT YEARS BACK. TOTALLY AWESOME & MADE ME LOVE HER MUSIC EVEN MORE. SHE WAS FUNNY, TOO.

DO YOU KNOW HOW YOU HEAR A SONG ON THE RADIO OR CD AND THINK, MAN, WHAT TALENT! THEY CAN REALLY SING. ONLY TO HEAR THEM LIVE AND THINK-THEY REALLY SUCK:eyes2: THAT HAPPENED WHEN I HEARD SEAL ON TV-NOT THAT I THOUGHT HE WAS ALL THAT GREAT TO BEGIN WITH, BUT I LIKE HIS MUSIC ENUF. HE WAS HORRIBLE! I DIDN'T KNOW IF I SHOULD STOP LAUGHING OR COVER MY EARS. ANYWAYS. NOT THE CASE WITH CELINE. SHE HAS A PURE, POWERFUL VOICE, AND I AM SO GLAD I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE WHO LIKES HER REMOTELY SEE HER IN CONCERT IF POSSIBLE. I TRULY HOPE SHE WILL TOUR THE STATES AGAIN WITHIN THE NEXT FEW YEARS. I HAVE ALL THE ENGLISH CD'S, AND I THINK SHE GETS BETTER AND BETTER.

I ALSO HAVE THE ONE WHERE SHE DID A SPECIAL PHOTO ALBUM & CD WITH ANNE GEDDES (SP?) WHERE THE SONGS ARE LULLABYS. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CD SEPARATE FROM THE BOOK. IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. SOME GREAT REMAKES, SUCH AS "WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD" BY LOUIS ARMSTRONG, "BEATUTIFUL BOY" BY JOHN LENNON, AND SO MANY OTHER HEARTFELT SONGS. THE WAY SHE SINGS THEM CAN MOVE YOU TO TEARS. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A CHILD AND JUST SIT THERE, LISTENING INTENTLY TO THE LYRICS AND THE TRUE EMOTION THEY'RE SUNG WITH. NOW PICTURE YOU'RE THE ONE SAYING THESE BEAUTIFUL THINGS TO YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS. VERY MOVING. AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE KIDS:lol:

BY THE WAY-I SWEAR I HEARD A NEW CELINE SONG ON THE RADIO OR MAYBE IT WAS ON TV IN A COMMERCIAL OR SHOW. HAS ANYONE ELSE? I LOOKED FOR A NEW CD IN THE STORES, BUT HAVEN'T SEEN ANY. I'M GONNA HAVE TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON THIS.

Last year there were rumors that Cher would be taking her place. I think she would be a great choice, because at 60 years old, she is still an excellent entertainer.

She was on Oprah a lot a few years ago. My mom loves Celine. She has, like, every album.

My mom and i both love celine. We've seen her 3 times in vegas. Two times we sat in 3rd row center from the stage and the first time we saw her we sat in the 1st meznene (I know i spelled that wrong). We're planning on seeing her on tour when she comes back to the US. :)
