...NBC wants to push their new late-late night series "POKER AFTER DARK" as much as possible. Why? The same reason Jeff Zucker gave, when deciding to jettsion "LATE FRIDAY" for a one-hour version of "LAST CALL WITH CARSON DALY" on Fridays in the fall of 2002. He explained why, even though someone at that meeting pointed out that Daly's ratings weren't that great- "This isn't about ratings...this is about sales".

That's the bottom line...SALES. NBC's sales department has probably said they can sell more late-night ad time on the "POKER" series than repeats of "LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN" (which it replaced, sort of; Jay Leno's reruns follow on most stations) and "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE" repeats on weekends. And that's NBC's "bottom line"- with the money they're losing in prime-time [hence, all the trimmings and cut-backs in network personnel and such], they figure they can make a little more "change" by scheduling what most young viewers are more "interested" in seeing in the wee hours of the morning...namely, POKER!!

I certainly miss the "SNL" reruns on Saturdays [locally, it was seen in New York at 3am, instead of the network's 2am(et) time period]....but who am I to argue with NBC's mad efforts to "stay afloat" financially? If they feel six nights a week of "POKER AFTER DARK" is the way to stem a "cash hemorrage"-especially with their expensive prime-time "duds" like "TWENTY GOOD YEARS", et al.- then that's how it has to be. I just don't watch it, that's all.

Add me to the angry loyal late night SNL fans too. I didnt even know that NBC had cancelled it till I read this post. Damn some poker Im so sick of it on tv I could scream who gives a crap!!! which celebrities sports stars etc., are good poker players

I want my SNL back on NBC up all night here where I live in Virginia I got to watch it twice first on the NBC station out of NC WXII channel 12 at 2:01 am and 3 am on the NBC affiliate here in Va WSLS chanel 10. NBC really blew it this time!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully either Comedy Central will bring it back, or E! will start showing everyday like they used to, instead of just Saturday nights.

....the "SNL" repeats were seen at 3am(Eastern)/2am(Central) late Saturday nights, 'agmfox8'- even though it was, as I've mentioned, shown at 3am in New York.

The "LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN" repeats were eliminated so that "POKER AFTER DARK" could be shown after "LAST CALL" at 2:05am(et)/1:05am(ct). NBC prefers Jay Leno's "TONIGHT SHOW" repeats follow "POKER" at 3:05am(et)/2:05am(ct). Simple as that.
