I think they got "rid" of Grandma because maybe she wasn't really that funny. Grandpa was a lot funnier when he got into trouble by himself like in the episode "Grandpa Robs A Bank."

Both Nell and Grandpa are hysterical in "Grandpa Robs A Bank". That episode alone is worth purchasing the Season 2 set from amazon in Canada. :)

Actually, it was season 3 that they killed her off. They just showed the last one of season 2 on the local channel here (Nell Gets Sick), and Grandma was staying with the Kanisky's to help take care of the girls while Nell was sick. Grandpa moved in on the 3rd season episode "Grandpa's Rebellion"...I can't remember if that's the one she died in, but I'm sure it is.

After watching the season 2 dvd, I can understand why they killed off the Grandma character. She just wasn't funny and she didn't really fit in with the rest of the cast. She was funny in one scene in the episode "Nell Gets Sick" where she makes fun of Katie's date but that's about it.
