There are two (2) Cheers episodes that I am trying to find:

First, what episode is it where Sam and Diane get into a discussion in which they are trying to outsmart each other by knowing The Capital of Oregon?


Second, which episode is it where Norm comes into the bar covered with kittens?

Please help me if you can.

I seem to remember that the reason Norm came into the bar covered in cats was because he was working as a dishwasher in Melville's seafood restaurant. I have a feeling that was from a Season 2 episode, but I can't be sure. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

I saw that episode. That's near the end of season 2. In that episode, Norm is depressed and out of work so he takes a job washing dishes up at Melville's, the others at the bar find out, and then Diane convinces Sam to hire Norm as his personal accountant. In that particular episode, near the beginning, Norm is followed down the stairs to Cheers by a "herd" of cats because he smells like fish, but that is not the episode in which Norm comes into the Bar and there are kittens all over him, and even inside his jacket. I still don't know what episode that is, or even what particular season it was in. I know I've seen it before but it was a long time ago.

The episode where norm is covered in kittens is from season 5 and it was called The Cape Cad. Carla bought a cat for her kids and brought it to the bar. The only problem was that it was pregnant and started having kittens. Later on in the episode Woody mentions that he was surprised Carla was able to give away all the kittens. She says that it was because she gave a free beer with every kitten. So of course then Norm walks into the scene covered in kittens. The other episode involving Norm and cats was from season two when he was washing dished at Melville's and cats followed him around because he "smelled like a mackerel".

The episode where Sam and Diane fight over the capital of Oregon was from season 3 and called Teacher's Pet. Sam takes a high school geography class in order to earn his diploma. He ends up sleeping with his teacher to get good grades so Diane guilts him into earning his grades honestly. Coach is his tutor. At the end, though, Sam shows he knows more about geography than Diane because he knows the capital of Oregon is Salem. She thinks it is Eugene.

That 2nd season episode, wherein Sam appears to agree to hire Norm as his accountant, is called "No Help Wanted"

It was Season 2 in "No Help Wanted," in which Norm was working in Melville's and the cats followed him around.
