I've been at IMDb earlier today there were announcements there that OC was cancelled. Cw.com too. It's not a rumor its true Ask Ausiello has said it, E Online has said, Just jared .com has said it, and Tv guide.com has said it.

I stopped watching after I think it was eppy 4 and switched to Grey's Anatomy but I feel badly about the cancellation of OC and I am shocked since I was a former Ocer.

Here's what I've found:

FOX Beaches 'The O.C.'
Popular soap will reach its conclusion on Feb. 22
January 3, 2007

Benjamin McKenzie of 'The O.C.'After bursting onto the scene in an inferno of hype in the summer of 2003, FOX's teen soap "The O.C." will fade quietly into the sunset this February after four eventful seasons.

FOX made the not-so-surprising announcement of the demise of "The O.C." late Wednesday (Jan. 3) afternoon. Starting this Thursday, "The O.C." will begin a stream of new episodes culminating in the series finale on Thursday, Feb. 22.

The move was hardly unexpected given that FOX only ordered 16 "O.C." episodes this season, a major dip for a series that had delivered over-sized runs of 27, 24 and 25 episodes in its first three years. In addition, FOX held "The O.C." back for a November premiere and launched it in a brutal Thursday time period opposite "Grey's Anatomy" and "CSI," two of TV's most popular shows.

The results have been easy to observe. Through its first seven Thursday airings, "The O.C." has averaged fewer than 4.06 million viewers per episode, off from last year's 5.75 million per episode. Critical raves suggesting that the show's quality was at its highest point since the first season did little to bring viewers back to the fold.

Talking to Zap2it in October, the show's creator Josh Schwartz was practical about the potential end of the show's ride.

"Obviously it's out there," Schwartz said. "Definitely when you're in this time slot and you've only been ordered for 16 episodes, you're aware that that's a possibility. Right now, we're just focused on making these 16 episode as good as we can and we'll see what happens. We'll have an answer before we're done breaking the episodes."

With that answer finally known, Schwartz seems to have shifted gears from practical to philosophical in the network statement announcing the finale.

"'The O.C.' Season Four finale will also be the series finale. This feels like the best time to bring the show to its close," Schwartz says. "Thanks to the hard work of our cast, crew and writers, we have enjoyed our best season yet, and what better time to go out than creatively on top. It has been an amazing experience and a great run. For a certain audience, at a certain time, 'The O.C.' has meant something. For that we are grateful."

There had been limited speculation about moving the series over to The CW in some modified form, but ultimately producers felt it was better to end "The O.C." on a creative high note.

In its four years, "The O.C." helped kick-start the careers of young leads Benjamin McKenzie, Adam Brody, Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson, while introducing a whole new generation to Peter Gallagher and his eyebrows. The show won Teen Choice Awards by the barrel, was nominated for a Television Critics Association award for outstanding new show and even earned Schwartz a Writers Guild of America nod for scripting the pilot.

I'm irate right now!! DAMN THEM!! It's been the best year ever, they should have moved the show to a different time slot.

I never watched it but it seemed like a good show. If they hadn't put it in such a bad time-slot maybe it would have done better in the ratings.

R.I.P. THE O.C!
I can't say I didn't see this coming, though.

And Aaron, The O.C started airing on Fox in Summer of 03'.

I know! Damn Greys and CSI!!!!!!
Yesterday, I was really pissed. I thought, oh great, another Everwood fiasco! The show is at a good place right now, and they want to yank it off the air. Then I realized that I'm actually relieved its coming to a close. It should go out on a high note, rather than take the creativity out of it, and milk the show until it sucks. It really was a pop culture phenomenon for a while. It was great while it lasted. It's been a blast. I will miss it very much. R.I.P The O.C.

Here's a NICE article about The OC's cancellation:

THE SUN SETS ON THE O.C. WHEN THE SERIES FINALE AIRS THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22, ON FOX

The sun will set for the last time on THE O.C. when the series ends its four-season run Thursday, Feb. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The countdown has begun, with all-original episodes airing from Thursday, Jan. 4 through the last episode on Feb. 22.

THE O.C. stars Peter Gallagher (Sandy Cohen), Kelly Rowan (Kirsten Cohen), Benjamin McKenzie (Ryan Atwood), Adam Brody (Seth Cohen), Melinda Clarke (Julie Cooper), Rachel Bilson (Summer Roberts), Autumn Reeser (Taylor Townsend) and Willa Holland (Autumn Reeser).

Set in Orange County, California, THE O.C. premiered in August 2003. It follows a group of friends and families whose lives were changed by the arrival of an outsider Ryan Atwood to their ocean-side community of Newport Beach.

THE O.C. revived the teen drama genre while including humorous and heartfelt adult storylines. Shortly after its summer premiere, THE O.C. was a pop culture phenomenon its actors are household names and its indie music (and subsequent six soundtracks) and hip California wardrobe are sought-after in stores. The shows Newport Beach locale also has become a popular tourist attraction as fans visit the real locations featured in their favorite episodes.

"THE O.C. Season Four finale will also be the series finale. This feels like the best time to bring the show to its close, said Josh Schwartz, creator and executive producer of THE O.C. Thanks to the hard work of our cast, crew and writers, we have enjoyed our best season yet, and what better time to go out than creatively on top. It has been an amazing experience and a great run. For a certain audience, at a certain time, THE O.C. has meant something. For that we are grateful."

From Wonderland Sound and Vision and College Hill Pictures and in association with Warner Bros. Television Production, THE O.C. is executive-produced by Josh Schwartz, Bob DeLaurentis, Stephanie Savage and McG. Ian Toynton and John Stevens are co-executive producers.

Excuse you, but FOX axed it because of bad ratings this season. This season has had bad ratings due to the competition from the top 2 shows on TV, Greys and CSI. And yes, I blame FOX too. Why the hell would they leave on Thursdays at 9??? Maybe they wanted to go down fighting, but they should have known that they didn't stand a chance.

And unlike you, I have watched Greys Anatomy since DAY 1, and didn't just jump on the bandwagon because it became so big this past year. And If I want to blame it on them, or any other show, I will. This is a forum, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I didn't start watching Grey because its a popular show I starting watching now because My tastes are darn well allowed to change and I have every right to Grey as yourself don't you insult me by saying what you said to me about Grey and don't you blame me because Oc was cancelled.

I didn't call fox and say hey Cancel oc please fox did that themselves and Josh I repeat Josh wanted it to end even Rachel Bilson said she thinks S4 was going to be the last and like Pretty in pink said we all darn well so it coming.. I darn well know what you are all going through it happened to me with Reunion,Tru Calling, Dark Angel,North Shore,American Dreams and a long list of other darn shows through the years.Plus the show had lost ratings because alot of people weren't interested in it anymore because of what happen with Marissa as well not just ratings Yep its the truth and people I know who used to watch it even plain out told me that was the reason.

And don't give me the tude.I wasn't giving attitude to anyone nor did I say nobody was allowed to have an opinion.

Yes, that was me on the Phil and Ally boards. And yeah, we've encountered each other on other boards, as well. When I said I was going to tell you to go, I didn't mean I was literlly going to TELL YOU TO GO. It was just a saying. Like ¨get out of here.¨

Anyway, like I said in my last post, all is well. There is no need to argue

Take care, and have a great week,

It figures. I just started getting into the show, and now it's going to be gone. The same thing happened to me with "Dawson's Creek." Although this show is much better.

I think the main problem is not the switch to Thursday nights but the fact that they ran out of good storylines after season 1. People also really lost interest after Marrissa died. I will miss the show but it is probably better that it ends before it becomes really bad.

I started watching it because it became popular and I wanted to see what it was about, and I ended up loving it. I don't see what's wrong with that. To me it makes sense to check out a popular show to see if your missing out on anything.

Why The O.C. Was Cancelled After Season 4 (https://screenrant.com/oc-show-cancelled-reason-season-4/)

The O.C. was one of the most popular TV series during the mid-2000s. Here's why Fox decided to cancel (https://www.looper.com/376432/the-real-reason-the-o-c-was-canceled-after-4-seasons/) the series (https://www.everythingtheoc.com/2018/02/why-did-the-oc-get-cancelled.html) after (https://www.google.com/search?q=why+was+the+oc+cancelled+site:www.reddit.com&sca_esv=563961401&sxsrf=AB5stBg9sUUt25l1s__x973ntBEAcSmelQ:1694249635851&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi_pdLdk52BAxVklWoFHXY9DkkQrQIoBHoECDQQBQ&biw=1600&bih=751&dpr=1) its fourth season.
