I got to see this clip on You Tube, which I had remembered for years, though no one in my household had. I used to TELL them, "Do you remember when Darrin rode the broomstick at the beginning?" and they didn't.

For those who cannot see the clip, it was when Chevrolet sponsored the show in it's 2nd season. The show has the usual title sequence ( B&W ),
with a bit of extra music at the end, when Endora's credit appears in the frying pan smoke-puff.
We see Samantha back on her broomstick, with Darrin sitting with his knees bent, feet upon broomstick beside her ( I guess, deliberately so HE doesn't appear to be riding side-saddle, as SHE was! ); then Samantha transforms the broomstick into the Chevy logo, the characters glance downwards, picture pans down to see a live-action Chevy car.
My folks used to wonder why I cheered Chevy! I LOVE the sponsored segments! I wonder if it was used for other sponsors? I seem to recall something like Quaker Oats, or somebody sponsoring the show --maybe cartoon Samantha poured cereal or something for a different sponsor?


Also the cartoon title begins not with the familiar notes [ that sound like: "Bewitched, Bewitched, Bewitched, Bewitched, Bewitched," ] --it is the Chevy jingle instrumental [ "See the USA in Your Chevrolet!" ]
It is played by the musicians who did the theme, so it was a seamless part. I wonder if Chevy was the first sponsor of the show, thus the show had that opening everytime, until they changed sponsors?
For syndication, I guess a later version was used. I remember when the shows were on ABC Daytime, in the 1960s; YEARS before daytime TV had hour-long soaps, the day-hours had game shows and re-runs of some of their prime-time hits, such as Bewitched. I recall that the sponsor tags got covered over, or clumsily edited out --such as the announcer saying "Bewitched! Sponsored by.." blank, nothing. Hmm --I think that announcer was the fellow who did the voice of The Robot in Lost in Space? Dick Tulle ( misspelled, I'm sure )

Chevrolet & Quaker Oats both sponsored Bewitched in each of the first 4 seasons of the show, in fact Quaker Oats was the initial primary sponsor who brought Chevrolet on board, as well to help convince ABC to give the green light to Bewitched when they were hesitating due to concerns that the show would be rejected in rurual small town America & in the South for being Satanic.

In the first four years the two sponsors alternated week to week sponsoring the show, often advertising with regular commercials on the show when the other was the official sponsor that week.

Starting with Season 5 other sponsors took over the show for the rest of it's run, such as Kodak, Ban,Bufferin,Excedrin,Clairol,Oscar Mayer etc.

The Original sponsor openings were dropped for them but right after the animated opening they had sponsor commercials connected to Bewitched just like the one you saw on Youtube.

I have the sponsor commercials for all the ones listed above from original 16mm prints that i transfered to DVD, as well as the many variants that existed for Chevrolet & Quaker Oats during the first 4 seasons.

I have 4 Quaker Oats & 5 Chevrolet Sponsor commercials that played right after the animated opening, such as the one you saw on Youtube, including that one.
