View Full Version : If you could give yourself one award or nickname here at S.O,.........

Brad Russ

What would they be?? If I could give myself any award for 2006, it would probably be the award for the corniest, and most self depricating humor of ANY SO'er. I'll admit, I'm always searching threads, just looking for the opportunity to make a corny and predictable/lame joke, even if it's at the expense of myself. I don't do it for pity, or to get comments, I simply do it because it amuses me, and gives me a laugh. And if it can make a few others chuckle, then hey, that's even better. The way I feel, if you can have self depricating humor with yourself from time to time, it just builds character, and shows that you can laugh at your own expense, and there's nothing wrong with that!! Anyway, I think I've gotten pretty good at the corny and predictable self depricating humor over the years, and my hope is that I can perfect this trait in the new year. ;)

As far as what title or nickname I'd give myself, a few come to my mind, but I think the nickname that best fits me would be "The Exclamation Guy". Not sure how many of you have noticed, but I tend to use exclamation points alot when expressing myself, especially when I'm trying to express something I'm really passionate about. I also do this alot when I'm expressing my care, or friendship for someone, because I want them to know just how much I truly mean what I'm saying. So, next time I'm expressing my feelings to you, and you see a ton of exclamation points, just know that that's because I really really like you, and mean what I'm saying!!! :) Another thing you might notice is that I rarely ever use just one exclamation point, I usually use atleast two, unless I'm depressed, or in a bad mood. So, if you ever see me use only one, know that I'm probably feeling a bit down, or depressed. :( Also, I always use three exclamation points or more when mentioning God, because I feel that He is worthy of more exclamation points than anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!! See what I mean?? I know, I know, I'm really weird, but those are just some of my little quirks.

So anyway, what would your S.O. award, and/or nickname for 2006 be??

I would definitely make the top 5 for that one myself!! Just read what I wrote about exclamation points, and you'll see what I mean. And that doesn't even begin to cover my obsessiveness.

I'd call myself the "wordman". Now I may surprise you now and then with a short, or, one-word reply to a post. I usually write an entire treatise (as I am doing at the present moment) before hitting the 'submit reply' button. I tend to not only reply, but explain the rationale for my reply fully (also, as I am doing at the present moment)

In all seriousness, I love it here at SO! If people can sense that, hopefully they don't mind the verbosity.

I'm not all that sure of what 'eccentric' encompasses. One of my best friends from high school had in his yearbook write-up that he was eccentric. I was one of the people giving input into his write-up and I, and he considered it complementary--in the sense that he was original and unique and did things his own way, so 'eccentric' is a good description and a very positive one at that!

I think another nickname that would fit me pretty well is "Too Nice." Just put that in between my first and last name, and it's a perfect fit. I swear, I had people tell me I was "too nice" atleast 5 times last year, and that doesn't even include all the times in past years. It pisses me off too, because they usually say it as an insult, as if to say I should be meaner, and the funny thing is, it's really not even true. The way I see it, if someone is nice to me, then I'll return the favor, but what those people who always call me that don't know, is that when someone treats me like ****, then I will return the favor back to them tenfold. They've only seen how I act towards people who are decent to me, but they've never seen me react to someone who treats me badly. If they had, then I can guarantee you, they'd never say I was too nice again!!

I am really quick to forgive though, so even if you make my **** list, it isn't too hard to get off it. Just learn from your mistake and treat me like you'd want to be treated, or apologize, and I'll quickly become the best friend you've ever had. It's not all so black and white with me. :)

Jen, You never bother me, I think you're awesome. I love hearing from you!! As far as the pm and New Years ecard go, I don't recall receiving either from you. Hey, there is nothing wrong about being NICE; trust I wish most people were like you ,Brad (you are an amazing person...hey now people, GET YOUR MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER;) ) I spent most of my adult life with people thinking that I was a pyscho bitach, because I tend to keep to myself and I am quiet (because I used to be terribly shy, but I did not look shy, if that makes sense); most people are quick to judge, when they have not right. I have an old saying, (IF YOU ARE GOING TO POINT FINGERS, make sure that your hands are clean)

Thanks Tara, I appreciate your kind words. :) I like your saying. There's another saying that's along those same lines that I've always liked. It goes: "When you point your finger at someone, there are three fingers pointing back at you." And it's true too. Point your finger forward, and you'll see what I mean. Definitely some great words of wisdom there!!
