It was recently announced that Cold Case Files has ceased production. In other words, there will be no more new episodes. :(

However, reruns of the series are expected to continue airing on A&E for some time to come. With CCF out of production, host Bill Kurtis and his company team, Kurtis Productions, will continue to work with A&E; he is working out a deal with the network for some new projects.

The following link contains an article on this unfortunate announcement:

Wow. That is really sad. It's such a great show!! It's unclear whether it was a mutual decision or if A&E is trying to change up their format. If it's the latter, I think it stinks.

Well, I know that Flip This House has replaced CCF on A&E's Saturday night schedule. As of now, CCF is shown Monday through Friday. For more info on A&E's schedule, visit their website (www.aetv.com).

I HATE Flip This House. I only recently discovered the beauty of Cold Case Files and I'm bummed to hear that they won't be making any more. It seems like all the good crime shows are going to be taken off the air.

If City Confidential hadn't already covered the most horrific murder in my hometown, I'd be really pissed... ;)

Which murder was that, Ricci?

The episode was entitled "Silent Night, Deadly Night," and it was about the murder of Larry Streeter in Bigfork, Montana. The murder was deemed "a perfect murder" until one of the parties involved spilled the beans, and it turned out that a paralyzed Olympic hopeful was actually the murderer.

I grew up and graduated high school in Bigfork. We've had some crazy murders happen in this small town, but the Larry Streeter murder was the one that put the town on its knees... Streeter was a very powerful and influential man in the town and they are still mourning his loss.

Now that REALLY sucks, big time. But they can keep stupid King of Cars right? You know, in my opinion, A&E used to be pretty decent UNTIL they turned into a circus network. This is exactly why I hold Court TV above them.

And I like Gene Simmons as well as his family but come on.

I share the unhappiness over the demise of Cold Case Files. With A&E's schedule getting an overhaul, I fear the network might eventually get rid of the true-crime format altogether.

When a network gets rid of one type of show in favor of a different type, there's not much you can do except tune the network out. It may not bring back your favorite show(s), but it's a good non-verbal way of sending the network a message.

You think you've got it bad. I actually dealt with that King of Cars guy about 7 or 8 years ago. He used to work at the Las Vegas Infiniti dealer, Tobin Infiniti on West Sahara Avenue. He was already a bigshot with a local show, one that actually is fairly entertaining as opposed to the garbage format on A&E.

I went in looking for a pre-owned G20, about 3 or 4 years old. The salesman I had initially was reasonable, but then they stuck The Chopper on me and he tried one ridiculous bait and switch tactic after another, trying to get me to switch to a new or more expensive model. Once I saw what an ass he was, I started using some bizarre or sarcastic lines on him and he didn't know what to make of it. Finally he basically told the salesman to get rid of me because, "his price range is ridiculous for that car."

He was right. Two months later I got the model car I was looking for in Homestead, Florida for $2000 less than I proposed to him, and half the mileage.

That stinks about Cold Case Files. One of the best shows of the genre.

I saw something I'd never watched before last night on Court TV, a true crime show that I think had the name Street in the title. It had a female host. Not bad but less gripping than it could have been.

I know that case well, Ricci. Crazy indeed!! It's a very memorable case...twisted and sad. Bigfork seems like a beautiful place.

Yes, I think CourtTV is doing a better job than A&E but they are slipping into "sensational tv" territory too. Their primetime lineup is now Cops, Cops, more Cops, and psychics. I know everyone has their own personal taste, but I HATE COPS!!!! And you can see Cops about 10 times a day on 5 other channels. They need to stick with shows like Forensic Files, Investigators, and Power Privelege & Justice. All are fascinating and well-produced.

I couldn't agree more. COPS must have an appeal but it eludes me. I'm to the point I break the land speed record by clicking the channel as soon as my disgust sets in and I realize it's another lame episode of COPS.

For one thing, it's not remotely representative. I guess that's the basic idea, to inject the sensational aspect that nohwheregirl mentioned. I had a college roommate who became a cop. I've heard from him, and read online, that it's very rare for an officer to pull his weapon. Sometimes it will be years between doing that, depending on the location and shift.

But on COPS it's hard to find a 10 or 15 minute block without weapons being drawn, often as a group. The last segment I watched they stormed inside a small home and pulled guns on a woman who looked like she weighed about 90 pounds.

I totally agree. At the office I work at, I've talked to police officers. VERY few, if any, have pulled their guns in the line of duty.

I saw it again. Not street. It is called Suburban Secrets.

I'm not surprised about your story about King of Cars, that show looks stupid, and I don't know who wants to watch a show about carsalesmen or that dude who thinks hes uncle cracker. It's sad that because of shows like "Pimp my ride" other networks are trying to cater to that audience. I never watch mtv, and I wish that garbage would just go off of the air and we could get "real" reality tv(like cold case/unsolved). It's sad.

Yes it is too bad about Cold Case files. A and E has some good shows in Cold Case files and American Justice as well as City Confidential IMO. I am also a fan of Dog the Bounty hunter but from what I have seen either you love that show or totally hate it. As for cops yes, I like the show but I can see why some dislike it. I know that a lot of people actually want to become cops because they think it will be like the show COPS. They come to find out the job is no where near what it is like on the show. Actually I think the people that film and produce COPS ride along with these cops from different agencies for entire shifts so they have 8, 10, 12 plus hours of footage and they air about 25 minutes of it, so they probably only air the exciting or unusual parts of it and dont show the other 10 hours of footage which is just routine patrol of mostly coffee drinking, riding around in the squad and issuing minor traffic tickets and maybe getting drunk drivers.

I don't mind COPS. It can be pretty entertaining. But, it's definately too bad about Cold Case Files. It's sad when one sees a classic 'real' reality crime show cease production. I guess they're trying to reach a 'target-market' with those other reality shows like Airline and Dog the Bounty Hunter. I don't know, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with those shows but as for myself, I just can't get into them. (Bring back UM and CCF!) Oh well, I guess there's always the re-runs and the Box Sets to turn to.

I did not know that Cold Case was to be discontinued. This is one program i always wait for - they take all the good ones away - and leave us with cops and robbers and attorney programs. I am so tired of all the lawyer and crime programs....where are the human interest shows.

I personally know Thom Gossom, Jr. the black man who plays the detective on Cold Case. I met him at the Emerald Coast Writers Group and then had a long talk with him about something I have been working on. He has a home in the Ft.Walton - Destin, Fl. area. The pictures he shows of his wife on the program are the pictures of his real wife...she attended the conference with him. He is really a super guy.

Thom Gossom, Jr? His Internet Movie Data Base doesn't list him as playing the detective in Cold Case (although he made a guest appearance on that show in 2005). The black detective on the show is played by Thom Barry.

Just so that there's no confusion here, it's the A&E documentary series Cold Case Files that has been discontinued, not the CBS crime drama series Cold Case. In fact, the CBS series has an excellent chance of returning for another season.

Thanks for clearing that up. I only get the regular channels and that is by antenna - so I am unfamiliar with any other Cold Case.

I will call Thom later this week, but I was sure he was the one I met. Perhaps the name Thom stuck with me...even my sister has never corrected me on this and she also says they are the same. I even have his card with his name and everything on it...he wrote his home number on the back of the card.

Maybe I have the wrong series - now I think I am loosing my mind - everyone has expect this with what all has gone on in my life. AAAHHHHAAAApht!

that's a shame about COLD CASE. Oh, well. At least we'll have the reruns. Is the show on DVD?

I just hope they don't cancel any of the C.S.I. trilogy.

Again, it was A&E's Cold Case Files that was terminated, not CBS' Cold Case. The former is a documentary; the latter is a crime drama (which, by the way, has a 99.9 percent chance of being renewed for another season).

Cold Case Files (the A&E documentary) is available on DVD. Although I remember discovering it on sale at the now-defunct record store Tower Records, you'd probably have better luck finding it online.

The CBS series Cold Case is unavailable on DVD. Unfortunately, due to the high costs of obtaining additional music rights, that series isn't likely to be released on DVD anytime soon. :(

I just hope they don't cancel any of the C.S.I. trilogy.

All three CSI's are coming back for the fall 2007 season.

Oh, man!!! I agree with most of these posts completely. Why do they always take away the good ones!! No offense to the fans of shows like Dog, King of Cars, Gene Simmons' Jewels and Family whatever, Flip this House, Cops, Psychic Detectives, and CSI but in my perfect channel/world it would be all true-crime, all the time. My first instinct is to hate A&E but when I think about the name of the station it kinda suprises me that there's as much as there is...but hopefully someday someone will launch an all true-crime channel. -Unsolved mysteries, Cold Case Files, Forensic Files, Justice Files, the First 48, Dark Heart Iron Hand, Rescue 911 (?), American Justice, City Confidential, Dominic Dunne: P. P. & J, and all of the true-crime specials covered by Dateline and MSNBC. I'd never leave the house!!!

Personally I didn't like the newer Cold Case Files episodes because of the look of them. I just prefer their older format, but it is pretty bad that they would discontinue their best show besides American Justice and I don't like City Confidential at all. Once they pull CCF, AJ, and Forensic Files, I will get rid of my cable because there is almost never anything on now.
